“The small village of Tarland is very quiet, so we were surprised at just how good the Commercial Hotel is. I understand that a lot of walkers & cyclists use the hotel and I'm not surprised, as it is in beautiful surroundings and only 5 miles from Aboyne.
We received a very pleasant welcome, and our room was large, beautifully furnished and very quiet. Whilst we stayed for 2 nights, circumstances meant we only had breakfast although on our last evening, we saw that the restaurant was quite……

Petit-déjeuner au pub dans une ambiance très cosy, les petits-déjeuners étaient très bon! Le personnel très prévenant et gentil. Je tiens d'ailleurs à remercier chaleureusement la superviseur qui nous à permis de pouvoir arriver à 01h00 du matin suite à un accident qui nous à bloqué sur la route, peu d'hôtels auraient offert un tel service! “We loved staying at the Leslie Castle. John & Nicole were great. We came by train and then planned to go by Uber to the Castle and found the one driver was on holiday. John & Nicole were so gracious to come and pick us up. Food was great. Nicole does a history of the castle after dinner each night which was so enjoyable and a tour of the castle. Our room was huge and we loved every minute of it. We walked to the little Hamlet of Leslie and met some of the locals. The weather was great……

“Hotel did not do breakast - thought I had booked bed and breakfast. Turned on the evening to be told they don't do evening meals, member of staff pointed to a microwave and toaster and referenced a shop that was closed to buy stuff. Next evening, a saturday, they were serving evening meals was told they did server evening meals. Whether they only seve meals at the weekend or short staffed I don't know.”
