Cozy Cottage In Rural Jamaica. Rich In Sunshine, Colour, Flavour, And Warmth.
There’s always a refreshing breeze blowing off the caribbean sea. Here is a mixed tropical orchid on a hilltop down a road with no name just off the beaten track of jamaica. This is a rural community in the hills where you will experience genuine jamaican culture far from the hustle and hassle of the popular tourist zones. The people are friendly and sincere. Your host, gary, is a local farmer with an intimate knowledge of the immediate area as well as the many spectacular attractions around the island. He is also very adept at creating delicious meals from locally produced ingredients. Clean air, fresh water, tropical breeze, ideal climate, a cornucopia of tropical fruits and veggies, a spectacular view east of the northeast coastline, mountains and sea, pomegranate, sugar cane, banana, peace of mind…
The house is mostly wood with a concrete foundation with two bedrooms, a kitchen and bathroom. There is some privacy as the house is at the back of the property and plenty of shade from the enormous mango, almond, lime, plum, niesberry, jamaican apple and avocado trees. It is roughly an hour from kingston, 45 minutes from ocho rios or three hours from montego bay. The closest beach, long beach, is secluded and serene. In this region there are also spectacular waterfalls that you must hike through the jungle with a guide to find. At dusk the crickets and frogs begin their chorus and by day nightingales and doves carry the ambient tune. There is not really any dangerous wildlife here – just donkeys, goats, mongoose…this is the real jamaica. Enjoy fresh non-industrial food. This is jamaica unaltered and unplugged. Rich in sunshine, colour, flavour, and warmth.

Liked: Property conditions & facilities, communication
We actually weren't able to stay but the area is a totally stunning part of rural Jamaica. Tony was really communicative and helpful!
First thing is this was one of the best vacations I have had. Gary, the Property Mgr is an amazing man. If you ask him, he will help you. I loved his insight and if he didn't know, he knew who had the info. The property is "rustic", so if you don't enjoy that then you may feel odd. If you rent a car, life will be easier getting around the area. You can stay in bed all day and love it or drive around since the beach is so close. I can't say enough good things about this place. Email first before you book and you will not be disappointed. Enjoy!
Beautiful part of Jamaica and very kind helpful generous people.

Awesome setting and views
The views and surroundings were breathtaking. The beds were comfortable; and I really enjoyed the rawness of the bathroom. The only complaint we had was that the building (metal roofing, raw construction) was very noisy under the wind and rain at night, and it made impossible for my daughter and me to sleep; but, that is the only complaint

Unique experiences
We stayed in this rural and rustic cabin. This was an authentic Jamaican experience. The vegetation were prolific with many different fruit bearing trees. Gary and his brother gave us much of their time. Gary cooked our delicious meals, which had several items harvested right out of the garden or forest for the meal.
We encountered some tropical rain storms.
We will always treasure our stay and the kindness, that was shown us.
Thank you.

Real Jamaica
Staying at tonys yard was an amazing experience and everything we searched for. Gary and Tony are very friendly people and they were willing to help us all the time. The property is beautiful with lot of fruit trees and some cute cats.
The nature out there is amazing and you are far away from tourism.
It is a really quite and peaceful place.
Gary is a fantastic cook, so you can have some real jamaican food.
There is a long beach with great waves.Only a few people passed by, so it was like being alone with the sea.
The atmosphere in Nutfield is very peaceful and you are surrounded by nature.
We've had a great time and experienced the real jamaica.

Cute litle cabin, in pristine Jamaica
Overall my experience was amazing. Being skeptical of Jamaica's rumored danger I was pleasantly surprised to feel very comfortable in this cabin. Literally in the middle of the jungle, with spectacular ocean views I felt very relaxed and easily escaped the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The people are very kind and Gary's cooking is unique and exquisite. You can not get anything better than a meal cooked from veggies that were picked minutes before.
Although rustic, the property was clean and maintained. The beach was a short drive away and easily reachable by taxi (only 5 bucks!). However I enjoyed walking on foot and getting a feel for Jamaican life.

Gorgeous, Friendly, rustic getaway
This is a fantastic cabin if you want to experience the real, rural Jamaica. It's miles from tourists. Every tree on the property is a fruit tree. The neighbors stroll over to hang out, make sure you're well, and bring fresh fruit from other trees.
Glorious weather, this shack is in a remote, friendly village perched on a verdant mountain in banana groves overlooking Robins Bay.
Tony introduced us to Narval, a taxi driver who we hired to drive us around. He was a good driver and a fun friend for the week.
The cabin is at least a 20 minute drive from the beach, so that may not be great if you're looking for a beach holiday. The cabin was more rustic than we expected, with no hot water. We suggested they get a refrigerator, which they plan to do.
Tip: make sure Gary fixes several dishes including vegetables with each meal. He can do some great vegetable dishes. We loved the "breadfruit".
Overall, it was unforgettable and unique, but may not be for everyone.
