Best Hotel for CouplesPosted Sep 18, 2015
I went here for my honey moon 9/4/15 and stayed for 9 days. It has a great beach & atmosphere. The food is excellent. I have stayed at Secrets Silver Sands in Rivera Maya Mexico and this one was slightly better. The views are beautiful, nice sunsets, and the restaurants have outdoor or indoor seating which is a nice change.

Overall terrific with room for improvementPosted Sep 15, 2015
Pros: See above
Cons: See above
Location: May Fields Falls. EXCELLENT excursion!
The location; the beach and pools; the choices, the service, the quality and the portions of food best yet at a Secrets Resort (our 4th stay at a Secrets). Maid service was ok at best. Had to call on at least three occasions because something wasn't attended to. Overall staff was pleasant and helpful. But, as might be expected with a staff that large, there were a few staff who made it seem like you were bothering them when you asked for assistance (perhaps they should be in a different line of work). Biggest complaint was the continued (border line harassment) by staff to purchase spa services. Nearly everyday. At one point, three different staff members came by our poolside lounge within 15 minutes trying to sell us. When we told them no thank you and someone else had just been by they gave the attitude of, "Ya, right. I've heard that excuse before." Also no effort at checkout to ask about our stay or to thank us. The desk person simply took our key cards, settled our charge and barely acknowledged us.Others said the same as we waited for our transportation to the airport.

The beautiful but not worth the poor service!Posted Sep 13, 2015
Pros: The decor
Cons: Service, it was below a one star. I mean for over $500 per night I would expect at least the kind of service I received at a $15 hotel in Thailand.
Location: Just out of the main town area
The decor and beautiful surroundings are the only things going for Secrets Wind Orchid. That is where all got things stop. Firstly, for an all inclusive hotel of this price point, one would think there would be at least one buffet for dinner. (I don't like to waste an hour and a half of my life just to get food) Only breakfast and lunch available in buffet format and even then you have to join long lines just to be seated. On my birthday I was turned away from the Japanese restaurant simply because there was no space available. I mean how do you design a hotel with 7 restaurants and you still have a waiting list and long lines to be seated to eat in an all-inclusive hotel? Secondly, my wife and I arrived at 4:00pm which is after check-in and our room was not ready. We tried to get something to eat while we waited and had to walk in the rain about 500 feet to get to the restaurant, there are no covered pathways from lobby to any restaurant or other room blocks. Stupid design. Finally staff need customer service training. For the 4 days we stayed there only 3 staff members were pleasant in our presence. Some were so busy with themselves it seemed like a bother to have them answer a question. Others did not return pleasantries of a simple good morning when offered to them. Sulky and miserable were the facial expressions of some and also a demanding sales rep trying to get us to sign up for the spa. Mr. Scotchman, Tara and a another staff member were the only ones pleasant

Phenomenal staffPosted Sep 10, 2015
Cons: Room service
Location: Zip lining and Dunn River waterfall excursions are great!
Great resort, however room service was mediocre. On more than one occasion our room service order was incorrect and extremely delayed. Breakfast was great. Server all of the restraints were slightly above average, however Bordeaux was excellent. Jerk chicken on the beach was also great. Entertainment was also phenomenal.

Nice Hotel for No Hassle Short GetawayPosted Sep 8, 2015
Cons: Drink delivery could be quicker. Higher quality food choices
Great for a quick get-away. Pros: hotel is clean, staff is super nice, drinks were good. Beaches, cabanas and chaise lounges were great. Cons: Coupons are really not useful, as they have restrictions on use. Food was just OK and service was slow. Water sports were ok not limited.

Great for Single Men too!Posted Aug 31, 2015
Pros: The 24hr room service!
Cons: I do not have any compliants
I'm a single woman and recently went to Secrets Wild Orchid alone. This hotel is truly luxury. They make it so you do things effortlessly. I stayed at other all inclusive before and this one is by far the best! Even the food was great! (You must try the French restaurant) The beach was clean and the water was warm. I recommend staying on the Wild Orchid side because it's closer to everything. My only compliant is there was a lack of single men which is no fault of the resort. Message to all single men, there are limitless single women at this resort. I recommend this as a single man get-a-away. Trust me, you won't go wrong!

Resort by the beachPosted Aug 18, 2015
Pros: The hotel is very clean and everyone is very friendly.
Cons: Food is pretty good, however, there could be improvements. It's nice to have so many options with the number of restaurants.
This resort is amazing! We stayed on the Wild Orchid side (5 days). We loved going to all three beaches (St. James, Wild Orchid, and Preferred). The snorkeling is amazing. We brought our own goggles and that was the best decision. We would just swim by the reef and look down to see all the fish. The jerk chicken cart and coconut cart are fun too! Whenever we missed the coconut cart, there was always a willing facilities guy that would climb a tree and gladly cut the top for us. The breakfast and dinner options are good. Lunch is okay in the buffet and seaside grill. The people there are extremely nice and always willing to go the extra mile to make your day. Andre at the rendezvous bar is amazing! Carol makes the best breakfast omelettes. This resort, unlike others we have tried, has a lot of night activities. We did a silent disco which was interesting and a barefoot beach party that was a lot of fun. The day activities they provide are fun. We did the snorkeling tour at 9 am and that was better than the snorkeling we paid for in the catamaran option. The bike ride is very fun too. Things we should have brought: Bug spray (mosquito bites all over our legs) and water shoes (beaches have sharp rocks).
