Outstanding location to access everywhere on foot. Hotel pleasant but not sure would rate as a 4Star. Staff friendly, room ok but for 4 Star would expect a little cleaner, however, bed wonderful. Would recommend.

"Central Edinburgh hotel"
Perfect for my business stay - close to the centre of town, all the facilities I needed and a quite uninterupted stay. Only negative would be that I was on the very top floor and there's no lift but you get used to it.

"Decent Hotel"
We stayed in a twin room on Princes street side. There were three single beds. Very clean. the beds were a little lumpy but we got around that. The location was very good. The windows shut out the street noise very well. We slept well. Breakfast seemed pricey but there were good options not far from the hotel. We liked the fact that it was an old hotel. Enjoyed having a nightcap in their attractive quiet lounge. It filled up on the weekend so it seems to be an old favorite for return travelers. I would stay there again.

Fountain Court Apartments - Royal Garden

2 York Buildings, Edinburgh EH2 1HY - Map
We have stayed at this hotel many years, through it's other names Royal Garden Apartments and Blue Rainbow, but it got run down and the housekeeping was awful so we didn't stay there last year on our annual visit to the Fringe Festival. Had heard it was taken over and refurbished and decided to try it again. All carpet and furniture is new, nicely decorated and kitchen had been upgraded. I had booked a one bedroom apartment with a large bed but we were upgraded to a 2 bedroom #412. The kitchen and living room were lovely, but the 2 bedrooms were small with small beds, we did not sleep well and had to use one bedroom as a dressing room. There was an ensuite shower room, but you would have to weigh less than 130lbs to get in the shower so we both used the main bathroom. The pluses were the bedroom we used was at the back and quiet from street noise and there was daily housekeeping. The apartments are all very different. Always request a room at the back overlooking the garden if you stay here. Overall the hotel is much improved under it's new ownership.
