The room and bathroom were very clean and spotless and given it’s a newer hotel, all the furniture, plugs and location of conveniences were properly designed. Rooms are large, beds are comfortable and clean, parking is right in front and it’s a 3 minute walk to most restaurants and stores.

"This lodge isn’t for everyone, but for those whom it is well suited to it offers a wonderfully immersive rainforest experience. Our room was spacious and fairly comfortable and we felt very much like we were alone in the jungle while hotel and other amenities were very readily accessible.
My only caution is that those with mobility issues could find accessing some of the rooms very challenging due to steep walkways that must be climbed to reach some cabins. There are several on the same level as the lobby/reception area, so if you aren’t comfortable with a pretty tough climb on sketchy sidewalks, in the dark, be sure to specify that. If you are able and a bit more intrepid, definitely go for the “full jungle experience”!

"We spent two nights in Ficus. Notable- The young lady working the front desk with long, dark hair and the wait staff in the restaurant at night. Both were super friendly and went out of their way to be fun and welcoming! Room- very clean and all the things worked well! Breakfast buffet- Excellent! Other food was good...except the pizza. A bit undercooked. Stick with local cuisine. The area is very hilly- expect to walk up hills. Shopping is a bit a way from everything. Tours- a very limited amount of excursions offered. We ended up going on a FB group and were able to find some things. End of June- expect some rain. We still went out and enjoyed all the things we wanted to do, no problem. View from the room- Plants could use a trim as they were hard to see past. wifi- excellent. Hot water- strong and plenty. Air-con- worked well. Snacks in mini bar- very over priced. Coffee maker- very nice and good coffee. "
"What a gem! Cost was totally reasonable- particularly given the quality of the included breakfast. The rooms were clean, the hostel enjoys beautiful views and you get a sense like you are nestled in the mountain. The only downside is that it is a 15 min walk to most restaurants and you need to either drive or take a VERY steep walk up the hill to return from town. That said, lovely spot and worth the walk for the quiet it allows. Wait staff at hotel could not be kinder or more gracious We enjoyed every moment in this special spot."
"We stayed here as a family of 4 in March with two teenage boys, in the family room. It had a frosted glass door entrance, and then beyond that was two bedrooms and a shared bathroom. One bedroom had two twin beds and a TV, the other had a queen bed and no TV. Bathroom had a standup shower. Water was plenty hot but the pressure is very low. Heads up you cannot put toilet paper in the toilet here, has to go in the garbage can.
Breakfast was in the dining area down the hall. You have two options of either pancakes fruit or eggs and toast fruit. Both breakfast options were delicious. Also included coffee/tea and juice.
Family run hotel and the owners were lovely. Very friendly and helpful when we had questions.
The hotel was a but noisy at night from our room because we had an exterior wall and the dirtbikes are quite loud. My boys in the other room heard nothing all night.
Location is convenient, we were able to walk into downtown Santa Elena in about 10-15 minutes. Keep in mind it all hills, downhill to town and uphill back. Grocery store and mini market close by as well as some restaurants.
Overall excellent value for the money, and nice to be in a very small, family-run hotel. Also enjoyed the hotel cat, Lulu :)"
