Happy busy property set into an old building with a lovely front and back yard. Rooms have character and each is unique. Coffee shop is lovely and the afternoon wine service is busy and happy. On the downside - all rooms on the ground level and first floor are ridiculously noisy. Unless you’re willing to commit to sleeping only between midnight and 6:00 AM .. don’t book this hotel. When I complained about this to the manager she explained with a straight face that ‘she’s never had that complaint before’ (we could hear every word said by every patron at their very busy coffee shop and I commend anyone who can sleep through a milk steaming at 7:00 AM, it sounds like a steam train going through your room). No gym but you can go to one at the Chelsea piers about 500 meters away and no resturant but lots around. Shame about the noise (install sound proof doors and a door at the top of the first flight of stairs and between the first floor rooms and three common area if you want your guests to get some sleep) since the people are nice, location is solid, rooms are quirky but great, and this could be a great spot.

The location near to the highline and Chelsea market was perfect and the decor was good...but I found the hotel expensive for what you get. There is no breakfast available in the hotel and no coffee making facilities in the room. I wanted coffee in the morning at 6:30 and had to walk around the block to get a take out. The coffee shop below the hotel only opened later and charged $5 for one cup of coffee- I think this should be complimentary for guests. Also we stayed there 6 nights in total and had a hold of $900 put on my credit card for minibar and damages in advance in addition to the $2000 for accommodation. Despite having the minibar removed from my room I was told the hold would remain. This I found to be unnecessary.

  • Disliked: Staff & service

Liked the location and convenient access to Chelsea galleries. Interesting decor and front back patio areas (drinks or "light bites" only). Found service lacking. No physical front lobby desk or staff - just a bar. I was a bit confused about checking in, until someone appeared and operated a small computer station nearby. Had to climb a short, dark flight of stairs to get to an odd, small, dark elevator (no one explained how to operate it when I checked in). Dark corridors as well. As a senior citizen, I had to watch my step, and no one offered to help me with my bag. My room was very small and cramped, with no closet or drawers - just hooks in the bathroom. Hit my head on the low, contoured ceiling attempting to sit at the small desk. Noisy, clanking air conditioning. At early morning checkout, I only found a young man on a bicycle in the lobby, who took my room key and tossed it in the aside at a small wall computer nook. Used my I-phone to call for a taxi. For the price, I was expecting much more. Disappointing.

We went out for the morning and returned to the hotel at 3:15 for a nice nap. We walked into the room to find the cleaning staff just starting to clean our room. We had just a small window to rest so it was so disappointing not to have access to our room this late in the day. When I book a room I expect to be able to use it in the middle of the day.
