The Iya Valley region in Tokushima Prefecture, Japan is a scenic area known for its dramatic mountain valleys.
The valley is a famous travelling spot in Tokushima and the colourful autumn leaves attracted me to visit it.
#TROVEMBER Oku Iya Niju-Kazura Bridge is a set of two suspension bridges located in Iya Valley on Shikoku Island in Miyoshi, Tokushima Prefecture’s Higashiiya Sugeyoi. The bridge in this photo is the larger of the two bridges, Husband Bridge (Otto no Hashi). It stretches 44 meters across the river next to a small waterfall. The slightly lower Wife Bridge (Tsuma no Hashi) is a 22 meter span a little way upstream. The bridges are connected to each other by a network of paved hiking trails. The vine ropes of the bridges are constructed with steel cables hidden within the braided monkey kiwi vines that are then tied to a tree, holding the bridge suspended over the Iyagawa River. Iya Valley is a scenic area known for its dramatic mountain valleys and thatched roof farmhouses. Iya Valley and the inner parts of Shikoku have historically been remote and difficult to enter, making them a favorite retreat for refugees and defeated warriors. Most notably, members of the Taira clan (aka Heike clan) were rumored to have entered the area after losing the Genpei War to the Minamoto clan in the late 12th century. Today, the Iya Valley has become an increasingly popular destination due to its natural environment and for being one of the last few vestiges of old world Japan and is still relatively difficult to access.

Incredible experience! We are a family of 4 with kids ages 10 and 5. Everyone loved their stay! The food was incredible and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. The onsen facilities were fantastic. The location was also perfect and the service was impeccable. We would recommend to anyone.
