Welcoming house in the heart of West Cornwall, dog-friendly and near the beach
A delightful dorma house nestling in the grounds of the historic 16th Century Kenegie Manor. Perfectly positioned for touring the whole of Cornwall with a wealth of popular beaches and attractions to suit all tastes within easy reach.
Property is dog friendly and sleeps four (one double bed and two singles) with one bathroom. There is an open plan living room and kitchen with a dining table. Kitchen is fitted out with everything you need to make yourselves at home, and the living room host two sofas, a TV and a DVD player.
The courtyard outside with table and chairs leading onto the grounds of the Manor is an ideal space to enjoy BBQ's and Cornwall's beautiful Summer evenings.
Relax in the extensive manor gardens or enjoy the facilities on offer which include a heated indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, and a licensed bar.
Penzance being just a short drive from Kenegie Manor, offers you an easily accessible holiday centre with great shopping and dining. Forget preconceptions of a sleepy port town at the end of the London to Cornwall railway line. Penzance has thriving Arts and restaurant scenes, is popular among sailing enthusiasts and, along with picturesque neighbouring Newlyn, makes a perfect base for exploring West Cornwall.
Only 6 miles away a visit to St Ives is a must. A warm welcoming Mediterranean atmosphere awaits for beach lovers and surfers. Each of St Ives beaches offer its own charm and appeal. Try the world-class blue flag Porthmeor beach with its surf school, sunbathing, water sports and spectacular sunsets. Or sample the delights of sheltered blue flag Porthminster beach, ideal for families with its half a mile of golden sands. If you prefer small sandy coves then try Porthgwidden beach, a local sun trap. By contrast, watch the local fisherman as they land freshly caught seafood at the Harbour beach.
Visit the Isles of Scilly with only six inhabited islands and numerous rocky islets lying 28 miles off Cornwall’s western tip, could the Scilly Isles be Britain’s best-kept holiday secret - and the highlight of your Cornish holiday? There are daily sailings from Penzance on the Scillonian III ferry. Its never been easier to reach Cornwall’s unspoilt island paradise.
Whatever you do in Cornwall, don’t miss St Michaels’s Mount. Just three miles from your Kenegie Manor base, this unmissable landmark is Cornwall’s counterpart to Normandy’s Mont Saint Michel. Owned by The National Trust, Saint Michael’s Mount is one of England's best-known and most dramatic coastal attractions. The harbourside village has been a home to a close community for centuries. As a busy port in the mid-nineteenth century, the population peaked at around three hundred. Today you will find a small community that looks forward to greeting you with a cheerful ‘Dydh da’ (‘Good day’) when you visit.
Whether you just want something different or you’re missing West End culture, why not visit Cornwall’s ‘theatre under the stars’ at The Minack Theatre, near the little village of Porthcurno with its gorgeous cove of white sand and aquamarine sea .
Another short drive south of Kenegie Manor, the appeal of Mousehole transcends the seasons: in summer, laze on its safe beach, wander its quaint lanes and courtyards, or dine in cosy harbourside hostelries. Come winter, marvel at the sea’s awesome power and delight at the famous 'Mousehole lights'. Based on old Mousehole legends, the Christmas lights will thrill the whole family - before you enjoy a warming drink and enormous crab sandwich beside The Ship Inn’s roaring fires.
