Visit this picturesque mountain village for summertime hiking and biking in the national parks and wintertime skiing and snowboarding thrills.

The mountain village of Ponte di Legno is a year-round destination. Visit in summer for hiking, biking and rock climbing in the national parks. In winter, ski the powdery slopes. Nature abounds here. Outdoor enthusiasts will find exhilarating activities to enjoy amid some of Italy’s most pristine landscapes.

At 4,127 feet (1,258 meters), Ponte di Legno is nestled in the Central Italian Alps. The village itself is utterly charming. Explore the historic center, home to a small square and an excellent selection of cafés, restaurants and small stores selling handicrafts. Enjoy the traditional quiet mountain village atmosphere.

Much of Ponte di Legno’s appeal lies in the nature surrounding the town. In summer, trek or mountain bike in the Adamello Natural Park or Stelvio National Park, with more than 150 miles (250 kilometers) of trails. Road bikers will enjoy the winding roads and spectacular passes, such as the famous Tonale Pass. Fish in the coursing rivers, go horseback riding, raft or kayak down the River Noce or embark on a rock climbing course in the Brenta Dolomites or Via Ferrata. Relax at the Golf Club Ponte di Legno, which offers a game with beautiful views.

When winter arrives, Ponte di Legno transforms into one of Italy’s favorite ski resort areas. Enjoy 60 miles (100 kilometers) of slopes, 28 modern lifts and plenty of adventurous backcountry skiing at Adamello Ski Area. Try ski touring, mountaineering and glacier trekking on the vast Adamello Glacier or enjoy ice-skating, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. Ski the exhilarating run from the top of the Presena Glacier almost 7 miles (11 kilometers) down into the valley in one run.

Ponte di Legno is 2 hours from Milan Bergamo Airport by car and 2.5 hours from Verona Airport via a direct road, which is open year-round. Take one of the regular buses from either city or rent a car for more flexibility.
