“We wanted a quiet, rural retreat in a character cottage and this place totally delivered. It may not be for everyone, but we knew what we were getting when we came. The house was built in 1710. The cottage, with its thatched roof has all the character you could ask for. The kitchen and bathroom are modern, well equipped and the sitting area is comfortable. “A lovely cottage with history and character. As mentioned in the listings it would not be suitable for someone very tall or with difficulties. Facilities are excellent everything you need supplied. Parking is free but beware spaces can be all taken - it states 23 hours stay - no return for an hour, so be aware there is a car park attendant around! Cottage is within easy reach of the town and Abbey. A lovely stay”

“Hawthorne cottage is situated in beautiful countryside. It’s just a short walk to the village of Nunney with its castle ruins and pub beside the river. We would recommend a trip to Stourhead and Wells, both nearby. The cottage itself is very well appointed with everything you need for your stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to go back. ”

The location is fantastic being just 5-10 minute walk to the city and all it has to offer. Spacious and comfortable lounge area and the beds and bedding were so comfy. “Recommend the property unreservedly but suggest you book directly through cottages.com as that is where Vrbo will throw you anyway. The Vrbo system was a massive let down and caused a great deal of stress with confirmation of the booking. Give them a wide berth but enjoy thi ssuper property if you can.”
