Find hotels in Salinà from $60

The best area to stay in Salina is Santa Marina Salina, the island's main port and a central hub for visitors.

This bustling town is located on the eastern side of the island and is where most ferries arrive. It features a charming waterfront promenade lined with shops, restaurants, and cafes. The main street, Via Risorgimento, offers a variety of amenities, including a supermarket and a pharmacy. Its central location makes it convenient for exploring the rest of the island.

Couples often find Santa Marina Salina ideal for a convenient and enjoyable stay. Its selection of dining options, from casual trattorias to more upscale restaurants, provides plenty of choices for evening meals. The ease of access to boat tours and inter-island ferries from the port simplifies day trips to other Aeolian Islands.

For travelers seeking a more secluded and tranquil experience, Malfa, located on the northern coast, is an excellent alternative. This smaller village offers stunning views of the sea and the neighboring island of Panarea.

The best time to go to Salina, Sicily, is during the shoulder seasons of May, June, September, and early October. These months offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and a more relaxed experience compared to the peak summer.

May and early June are ideal for travelers who enjoy hiking and exploring the island's natural beauty. The wildflowers are in bloom, and the temperatures are comfortable for outdoor activities like climbing Monte Fossa delle Felci. The sea is also warm enough for swimming, making it a good time for couples seeking both active and relaxing pursuits.

For those prioritizing swimming and boating, September and early October provide warm sea temperatures and sunny days without the intense heat of July and August. The island is still lively with open restaurants and shops, but the large summer crowds have dispersed. This period is particularly suitable for couples looking for a tranquil island getaway with opportunities for coastal exploration.

While July and August offer the warmest weather and a bustling atmosphere, they also bring the largest crowds and highest prices.
