We really enjoyed our stay. Great place especially for kids. Goats, donkeys, chickens and more on the property you can watch and pet. The nature is just beautiful and hosts are welcoming and nice people.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the well-equipped and charming converted barn on 'Old McDonald's Farm.' Our hosts gave us a tour of the pasture and pens, where we met donkeys, goats, sheep, and fowl. The property is pristine and the sound of the river is soothing. We hope to return!
Beautiful property overlooking the Shohola River with gorgeous views and a deck down below we enjoyed every day. Enjoyed the farm animals, donkeys! Fresh eggs from the hen! Beautifully reconstructed barn from ages ago. Super comfortable and awesome! Fabulous getaway for sure!
Our stay was everything we hoped it would be. From the rustic, but well maintained details of the bunk house, the sights and sounds of the rippling creek, to the distant "hee-haw" calls of the donkey for his morning breakfast, it all takes you back to a simpler time. Small details, like complimentary fresh organic eggs and fruits, were welcoming additions to the overall experience. Savvas was a wonderful host, and it was quite apparent that he wanted us to enjoy the property as much as he and his family still does.
I don’t know where to start! The house was comfortable we felt very welcome an cozy. Dora and Saavas could not have been nicer or better hosts. We chatted every day just fun stuff, shared experiences, how much we love farming, they texted us places to visit, gave us Eggs, dandelions, chives, a violets!
Dora and I both are interested in Wildcrafting medicine and food. I feel like we made two new friends!
Quaint, Cozy and Relaxing. We had an amazing weekend staying at this property. The host family was kind, considerate and welcoming. The property was beautiful including a River running behind the cottage. A fire pit to sit around and relax with your coffee or wine. Fresh eggs and farm animals to visit. The cottage itself was an eclectic and fun and the bed comfortable. We could not have asked for more. The host family Felt like friends we hadn’t seen in years. Thank you so very much for sharing your property with us. I work way too much and this was the perfect way for me to relax and unwind.. Thank you again….
My husband and I loved staying here! The attention to detail in the cottage was welcoming and we enjoyed talking to Dora and Savvas. We loved visiting the animals as well! We highly recommend staying here.
We had a wonderful time at Savvas and Dora's place. Their was cottage was cozy, clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It was also in beautiful and peaceful surroundings. Our hosts were very accommodating as well. We would definitely stay there again!
The property and the owners were absolutely lovely! So glad we picked their property! They couldn’t have been more accommodating and we hope to return soon!
Love the place nice and cozy… Plus the host Savvas he was helpful and kind…
Love the place me and my wife and good friends went out there for a small getaway and we all loved it… the animals were nice… nice night sleep with river sounds relaxing.. clean house great host plus fresh eggs by the host was a plus… Will definitely go back with my kids will be a good experience for them… Thank you for everything Savvas loved the place…
The cabin was great as well as the host. Its a nice cozy cabin that is great to get away and relax in. The creek behind the cabin was great caught 5 fish in a short amount of time which was great. The animals was an added treat as they are friendly and approach you to say hi. Would definitely recommend a stay here.
Absolutely loved this spot. I was in town for work and didn’t get to spend as much time as I would have liked here, but I will be back and bringing my family. The hosts, Savvas and Dora are great and make you feel welcome to their sanctuary out in the wilderness. They also have the donkeys, goats and chickens on the property that you can feed, and they give you farm fresh eggs, which can not be beat.

What a special place to relax and take a much needed break! The cottage was rustic yet had what we needed. The hosts were warm and so accommodating! It was a great place to visit with the animals on the property, hike the local waterfalls, horseback ride, read, and relax. I especially liked having the hosts nearby on the property. They were there for anything you needed (like an extension cord so we could move a lamp over to work on a puzzle). They’re a truly lovely family!
From the location, accommodations, host, and yes the eggs... everything was top-notch. Savvas & his family were extremely nice and my 10 year old daughter loved spending time with the animals on the property. A bonus... we saw deer hanging just outside the fenced in property!
In addition, what you see in the pictures is perfectly represented. The cabin has an inviting warm and rustic feel. There was plenty of room for our family along with a beautiful view of the Shohola River. Included internet connection was extremely fast. I will definitely be coming back the next time I visit Shohola.
