We have visited the Kempinski at the Dead Sea many times over the years and were looking forward to staying a night once the hotel reopened due to corona. As we were expecting, check in was easy and our room was clean and beautiful. However, there were some things that were less than up to the kempinski standards that we have been use to. When we first arrived we found open chairs by the lagoon like pool. Lots of trash and no trash cans to put anything in. Small plastic bags overflowing with trash laying around...... empty paper cups lining the edge of the pool and random trash. Not acceptable. Also the food options for dinner and the breakfast buffet were poor. For dinner our options were a bar area (we had kids) the italian restaurant and room service. We ended up choosing the italian restaurant. The food was very average. The breakfast buffet was open the next morning but it was definitely not up to standard. We were prepared for ordering breakfast ala carte from the restaurant..... but were happily surprised to hear that the breakfast buffet would be open. It shouldnt have been. I understood that the limited selection and setup was for health purposes..... but it did not make sense. If you are going to offer oatmeal, soup and pastries, pancakes and falafel that require a ladel or tongs that everyone is going to be touching........ the entire buffet should have been operational. You definitely did not get your money's worth.
