Lobby was clean, but front desk messy, disorganized during checkin. Room, well there was good and not at all good. Bathroom, clean, edge to edge. Worn but clean. Room itself? Left me uncomfortable on a couple of fronts. Smelled of stale smoke, and musty. Maybe used to be a smoking room in days gone by? Floor lamp base and corner it was in was down right dusty and dirty, crumbs or something all over. This was where the coffee machine was placed on table, top of coffee machine had dust, which should have been the clue.. it didnt work. Total bummer since time wasn't available for trip down for the 2 hour window (really, just 7am -9am?) alotted for breakfast for what appeared to be a full facility. The thing that really bugged me was that I could barely get the room window closed (it was open when I got there), and not sealed all the way. Which meant the window lock could not latch. Being on ground floor with a window like that was unnerving for a solo traveler.

My husband and I recently spent a weekend at the Lake Placid Stagecoach Inn, and it was nothing short of magical! Before arriving, the owner Kelly, sent us a "Perfect Placid" list of the areas attractions with things to do and restaurant recommendations. So cool! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed - Kelly and her staff greeted us warmly and offered a quick tour pointing out the cozy common areas and sharing a bit of the Inn's history. The vintage accents and handcrafted furniture made us feel like we had stepped back in time. Our room (Kate Smith) was sooo comfortable, mixing rustic charm and beautiful modern amenities! Our dining experience was spectacular with seasonal offerings that support local farms and vendors. Absolutely delicious and everyone made us feel like family! The location is just minutes from everything, yet it feels like a secluded retreat. We sat on the porch and played cribbage with our wine and handcrafted cocktails. So fun and relaxing! We also visited the village shops, Mirror Lake, and biked the beautiful Adirondack Trail. Our whole trip was simply amazing... and too short! Bottom line, The Stagecoach has historic charm, 5-star dining, and a location that perfectly balances convenience with tranquility. It will warm your soul. We definitely plan to stay again!!
