![Esztergom is a pleasant Hungarian town situated on the Slovakia-Hungary border. Štúrovo is the town on the Slovak side of the border, which has an ethnic Hungarian majority.

On a small hill overlooking the town and the Danube is a Cathedral, which is the largest in Hungary, and the site at which the Hungarian king Vajk (Szent István) was baptised. The adjacent castle complex is also worth a look.

You can easily get here by bus or train from Budapest. Alternatively, you can take a train to Štúrovo which is on the main line between Budapest and Bratislava. “What an absolutely delightful surprise. From the outside, a rather normal looking house in a smaller Slovak city, but on the inside, a small but very service minded team, and very large and spacious rooms. Food was exquisite, both dinner in restaurant and the breakfast was made fresh from a breakfast menu, probably the best hotel breakfast I’ve had in over 10 years. Definitely be coming back here again soon.”

“Nice location, walking distance to most attractions, and with metro, tram, airport shuttle bus (100E) nearby. Many good restaurants nearby. Room is spacious and clean, with kitchen and necessary utensils, coffee capaule machine. Breakfast basket everyday is cute and nice. Staff are very nice and helpful. Definity recommend to stay! We stay for 5 nights, the daily housekeeping is good and very clean room.”
