This is the 3rd or 4th year we have stayed here. We loved every minute of it. It is so peaceful and quiet - just what we need for a vacation. Hope to be back again next year!
My wife and I spent the week and loved every minute of it. So peaceful and quiet! Daughter and family came up for a couple of days and the kids has a ball!!
Hope to stay there again.
Thank you,Tom and Julie
We loved how calm and peaceful this home was; we took many trips to get ice cream, visit the general store, went to Sunapee for a day of summer activities, and relaxed on the sun porch, deck and boats on the lake. Such a great vacation! Thank you!
Me and my family stayed and would definitely stay again it’s on a nice quite cove on the lake. There is and brand new dock perfect to bring your boat i looked for reviews about boats fitting at many rentals on highland with not much info but my 24 foot bow rider had no issues fitting or with depth here at his dock and still plenty of room for the kids to swim when docked
House was clean and comfortable. Plenty of room. Lots to do. Kayaking, fishing, outdoor and indoor games and fire pit. Owners very nice, easy to communicate with, available and made sure everything was ok. Everything we needed was there. Relaxing and fun.
Our 3 generation family enjoyed canoeing and kayaking on the lake. We cooked meals and gathered around the large dining table nightly for dinner and games. The screened sunroom was ideal for reading and relaxing. The only disappointment was that the lake is too weedy to swim off the dock, and the local beach was for "owners only, no renters". The AC in the bedrooms made sleeping comfortable.
We enjoyed our stay very much. We did not use the water activities due to weather, but we went for the cool tempertures and fall leaves. Tom is great and available for any questions. We had no problems, but felt that if we did Tom was within reach. There was wood to enjoy a fire which was very nice. Next time we will need a few more days.

My adult family spent another great week at Birch Cabin. Everything we needed was right there and we were able to enjoy a relaxing week. The addition of air conditioners in all the bedrooms was a nice bonus this year. Everyone slept comfortably. We never get around to making the s'mores that Tom leaves for us but we do enjoy the individual parts, chocolate and the fudge stripe cookies he provided this year. We brought our boat and jet ski again this year and was able to tie up both to the dock. My favorite part is the kayaking to the sandbar. Highly recommend the green kayak, it is the most comfortable.
Going to try and book again for next year.
This is our third time staying at Tom’s house and everything was excellent as usual. We love the location because while we can easily access the main part of the lake, in this area it’s very quiet. Boat traffic is minimal, mostly kayaks, which makes for a very relaxing vacation. Kayaks and paddles are provided and I recommend paddling around that area, it’s very peaceful. While swimming right off the beach is a little weedy, if you just swim out about 20 feet you will find yourself in clear very chilly water. It was refreshing. I recommend hanging out by the waterfall, you can’t see it from there but you can hear it, it is a great place to just chill. For wildlife we saw 3 otters swimming by, turtles sunning themselves on rocks and loons teaching their babies to dive. Inside the house is great, plenty of room for 6 adults, plenty of couch space and a good size dining table for family meals. Morning tea is to be enjoyed on the backed deck or the screened in porch. We definitely look forward to staying again.
I spent a week at Birch Cabin with my adult family. Everything was wonderful and I highly recommend this house. Tom, the owner, was very easy to communicate with and usually answered texts within a few minutes. The theme for the week was "just relax" and that's exactly what we did. Mornings were spent either drinking coffee/tea on the porch or reading in the sunroom. Afternoons brought everyone outside to enjoy the sunshine or take a kayak for a spin. I liked the green kayak and took it twice to the sandbar which is a little bit of a distance but great exercise. Even though the lake was low we were able to bring our speedboat and tie it up to the dock. We also tied up our Seadoo Spark to the end of the dock so there is definitely plenty of room there. The kitchen is well equipped with most things you will need to cook in every night. The dining room table seats 8 and most nights we played Palace and LRC. There are plenty of other games for all ages. Of note there is plenty of parking for 4 cars in 1 spot and truck and trailer in another.
Also of note the water at the house is too shallow or weedy to swim, we went around the corner to the inlet in the kayaks or paddleboat and swam there or we went to the sandbar. I recommend water shoes for both locations. Shaws is an easy 20 minutes away for anything you may forget.
Wonderful trip with wonderful hosts at a great location
My family and I booked the birch cabin for a ski trip and it was absolutely amazing. We loved how close we were to the mountains and Tom was there to fix any issue we had! We are already talking about possibly coming back one summer to enjoy the lake!
We had a great time at Toms house on the lake, lots of things to do on the water with a paddle boat, kayaks, and canoes. The fishing was great too. There is ample parking for guests and it is very easy to get to the water. We enjoyed the s'mores and wine left for us. I highly recommend this lake property if your looking for a quiet and relaxing time away.
Tom provided all the information we needed and more. The property is comfortable, clean and offers privacy even though it is surrounded by other summer homes. There is room to enjoy oneself, entertain, or just relax.
It was a wonderful 2 weeks - only problem was the sliding screen doors - hard to slide- so we left them open during the day. Kids all had a great time fishing. Communication was excellent.

We had a great week away in June 2022. The house was great for our 2 young boys. We really enjoyed the kayaks, paddle boat, and indoor and outdoor fire pits. The indoor fire place was great for a very cool rainy day. There are lots of games and blow up toys to keep the kids entertained. The cleanliness was the house needed some work, but I communicated this to Tom and I am confident he will address it with his cleaners (who were new). Overall a fabulous week away and the house has everything you would need. Just be careful on the dock without sandals. My youngest got a few splinters. Would book again!
Love the quiet location - able to do daily evening long walks without worry about traffic - always felt safe. Saw lots of wildlife - turtles (large and small), weasels, fisher cat, geese, wild turkey on our car, bullfrogs, fish, grey fox. Kayaking on the lake was a peaceful, relaxing and fun. Watching our grandchildren happily use the kayaks and paddleboat was a sheer joy. They spent lots of time playing bumper pool in the cabin basement. Owner, Tom, was super responsive and helpful if ?'s came up. Hope to do this again next year.
Oh! Having 2 bathrooms there was a HUGE help when grandchildren were staying with us. Gerry & Ann (Haverhill, MA)
The lake house was very spacious, private and quiet. If your looking for relaxation in a great lake front property, this is the place for you. The adult boys with our party enjoyed fishing in the lake which has a lot of bass. Use of the canoe and row boat was a big plus. They also enjoyed trout fishing in the river that runs through Hillsborough. We did some nice hikes but the ticks were especially bad this year so I suggest lots of bug spray. We also sprayed with lavender which the ticks hate and had some wonderful tick free hikes later in the week. The kitchen was well equipped and the grill was great for cooking. The smore supplies and bottle of wine the owner left us was a very nice touch. The sun room was great for family night games which we played every night. I'd also like to thank Tom and Julie for the special accommodations they made so we could bring my handicapped mother along. It was a great week. I would definitely stay here again when visiting NH.
Working with Tom was easy. He always responded immediately. Contacted me during week to ensure everything was okay. House was comfortable, well stocked. Easily accommodated family of 10 for a game night. Nice fireplace. Tom supplied the wood. Beautiful setting. Quiet. Ample parking. Lots of games, game room, movie channels, outside fire pit, comfortable seating outdoors, pretty patios
We had a wonderful time at the lake house! The weather did not always cooperate but we made the best of it. We completed two 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles, kayaked, swam and used our boat, played bumper pool, and numerous games. We also watched our favorite WNBA team, the CT Sun move on to the next playoff round!
The peace and quiet was wonderful. One rainy day we visited the Franklin Pierce mansion historical site and stopped in at the Lemon Tree bakery in Washington - highly recommended.
All three generations of our family had fun connecting. Our granddaughter celebrated her 5 month "birthday" and our oldest daughter celebrated her 40th.
Thank you again for your hospitality and kindness. The wine and smores were great!

Our family of 5 stayed for 8 days and loved our time in the Birch Cabin! It had all of our “must haves”: on the water with kayaks, fireplace, video games/TV, 2 bath , laundry and plenty of bedrooms! The beds were comfy, the coffee pot was great, the outdoor toys as well as indoor games/board games were ample and the location was gorgeous!
We were hesitant to stay because there weren’t any reviews but the listing is just as described online/photos. Tom was amazing from start to finish and we had a GREAT trip! :)
