Staff, as always, are superb. They are friendly, professional, and helpful.
We have only ever stayed at the Grouse Mountain Lodge when visiting Whitefish and had always really liked it. We stayed there twice during the trip and the nights were different experiences.
For the first night’s stay, we did not get the room type we had paid for nor did we feel we got an equal or upgraded room instead. We got no sleep thanks park & rec convention attendees.
One the second night’s stay, we got the room type we booked and paid for, but only after making a special request. And we got sleep as we were placed away from the noise.
We know there have been impacts from the pandemic that have created some hurdles. The property is tired and in need of a refresh.
One of the things with the Glacier Park proprieties that I dislike is the introduction of an amenities fee. While lower than most, it’s still a poor look — charging an extra fee for things it used to provide as part of the room pricing. This fee is not negotiable and it covers wi-fi, the pool and hot tub (didn’t use), morning coffee in the lobby (none the first morning). Why not include it in the price of the room like before? Saying it’s because they need to recover from the pandemic is a bit extra, especially when smaller properties do not charge this fee and actually provide more amenities without additional charge.
The amenities fee has actually convinced us to look at other places to stay next trip.
