“Hosts are friendly, attention to visitors, helpful, provide high standard of rooms and amenities, quite rooms and next to a good hotel. Highly recommend to stay.”
“This was a wonderful place to stay. It is a heritage building and so you cannot expect modern amenities. But it had everything you need, a nicely renovated bathroom and the food was AMAZING! The atmosphere was perfect for the surrounding glen and the staff were extremely friendly. The room was small and basic but it lent to the charm. And the food.... Seriously good!”
“Was ok. Peaceful location but huge gravel car park directly in front of ground floor rooms was noisy in morning and evening.
Stale smell inside the hotel in general. Staff were overly “formal / professional” - felt almost awkward at times and didnt feel friendly. Hot breakfast for £25 not good value, continental breakfast at £17 also not good value (yoghurt, granola, canned fruit and watermelon).
Good bedding, comfortable beds, but at this price I would not return.”
“Lovely location convenient to the ferry terminal and town centre. The host Caroline was very friendly and welcoming. Little extras left in the fridge were an added bonus and much appreciated.”
“Checked into our first room, toilet flush inop and a washing up bowl on the side with the toilet fixings hanging off. Reported to reception who moved us to another room with a sauna, sauna did not work, horrendous noise from the kitchen fans and no sea view which we had upgraded to. Back to reception for a second time and had to argue to get moved room again. Third room was terrible, smelt damp, curtains hanging off, paint peeling off walls and cracks in windows.
Only upside was the food was……
“The property was as represented, and the view from the windows was itself worth the stay! Good breakfast basket delivered in the morning, nespresso machine, modern clean room and bathroom, bus stop very close and Connell Ferry train station 10-15 minutes walk.”
“Another fantastic stay at Aspen lodge where nothing is too much trouble and you are served amazing breakfasts. Stayed for a week and we literally had a different breakfast daily. You can eat indoors or outdoors too here.
We came back for the views and location, the food and the peace and most of all the warmth and kindness and local knowledge of our host

“It was a little difficult to find and was not close to any restaurants etc. However, we enjoyed our stay. There were a lot of stairs if you have heavy luggage. The staff person who greeted us was a little grumpy, but the rest of the staff was excellent. Food was amazing. Bed was comfortable and room was spacious and clean. I would recommend to others.”
“Rooms had tires and dirty carpet but very clean bathrooms. No A/C and no screens on the windows. Restaurant and food were excellent. Pictures in listing were very “generous” and seemed like a misrepresentation. Views and staff were amazing.”
