With a light show next to a waterfront mall in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, this historic center is a scenic spot to learn about the region.

Downtown Branson comprises a historic district that graces the shore of the river-shaped Lake Taneycomo. All types of international restaurants complement the quaint and traditional stores specializing in leather, quilts and old-time cowboy culture. Explore the various museums for a sense of the city’s rich history and traditions.

One of the district’s highlights is the Branson Centennial Museum, with its ever-changing exhibits exploring the development of the city. Browse the tomes in the gift shop with the largest selection of books in Taney County.

Across the street stands Patricia's Victorian House, an iconic store featuring a variety of antiques, period furniture and porcelain dolls. Imagine you have traveled back in time, as you admire the Victorian style and décor in the store.

Walk east for a few minutes to the Branson Scenic Railway, one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. Climb aboard the train as it chugs through tunnels in the Ozark Mountains foothills. You can also travel through the region via a boat on Lake Taneycomo from the Main Street Lake Cruises dock.

In addition to its excellent scenery and historical landmarks, the Downtown Branson is an entertainment hub. Feel the Motown vibes in the Hot Hits Theater, with its various musical shows paying tribute to Marvin Gaye and other iconic retro stars. Try the nearby Historic Owen Theatre for its range of professional Broadway musicals and local amateur productions. The building was constructed in 1936 and has a charming barn-like design.

Find this zone on the eastern side of Branson, bordered by the river-like channel of Lake Taneycomo. Between the municipalities of Kansas City, St. Louis and Oklahoma City, it is a short drive from the Arkansas border in the southwestern part of Missouri.

While in the region, consider seeing other surrounding landmarks such as the Ozark National Forest, the Mark Twain National Forest and the Branson Theater District.

The mattress on our queen bed in our room was sloped on both sides of the bed to the center of the bed. We got in bed and rolled down hill until we ran into each other. Very hard to not end up in the middle so did not get much sleep and staff didn't seem too concerned

Room smelled bed, stains on pillows and blankets, poor room service, generally overpriced. We will not stay here again. They get by with a lot of subpar amenities because they have the ideal location to the convention center. Much better hotels around that are a walkable distance.
