Captain's Rest 29th July - 5th August 2023

Owners very attentive and helpful. Excellent location, right on Brixham harbour. Everything you could need in a very well equipped kitchen. Beds all memory foam and very comfortable. Lots of places to visit locally. Lovely quiet apartment. Would highly recommend and will definitely stay here again.

Great location

Great location just off the edge of Brixham harbour with east nearby parking, close to shops restaurants and the heart of Torbay allowing great day visits and walks. Lovely clean and fully functional apartment.

Central harbour location, super apartment.

A well equipped apartment in great location for the harbour, walks and shops, including some interesting independent shops. Third floor location meant great views. Great support, when needed, from the owners. Lovely welcome gift. Thank you. Recommend using the weekly parking permit, and using the Freshwater Quarry Car Park, and strolling back along the harbour to the apartment. Recommended.

A great holiday base

We really enjoyed staying in this apartment, which was a stone's throw from all the attractions of Brixham harbour. Beautiful coastal walks, sea swimming and crabbing were our favourite pastimes. The apartment was clean and well appointed and provided everything we needed for a relaxing stay.

A happy stay

We stayed last year and had a lovely time, so wanted to visit Brixham again. Captain's Rest was the perfect base last year and it was the same again this year. The apartment is perfectly placed to explore the town. It is well equipped and very welcoming. It made it a very happy holiday. Thank you.

Lovely apartment in an interesting town

The apartment is lovely, modern, quite compact but with everything you would need. The location is great as it is just up from the harbour and only a short distance from the main shops and supermarket. There are a few steps to get up to the flat as it is on the 2nd floor. The view from the apartment is rooftops and short-stay car park but we were out a lot of the time so this was ok. Free on-street parking could not be found so we bought a council car-parking permit (which covers all of Torbay). The nearest long-stay car park is a 10 min walk away but the route is along the harbour. As we had good weather it was a pleasant walk. The permit meant we could park in the short-stay next to the flat for up to 3 hours which was helpful. Colin & Sally were helpful and quick to answer any questions.

Brixham

Great property really close to harbour and all facilities. ...only one criticism and nothing to do with property itself. I received a text at approximately 10am on the Saturday that I didnt have to wait until 2pm to access the property....if I had known this Friday night we would have left early to get there by 10amon and have the whole day to ourselves.

A great break in a very comfortable flat.

We were very impressed with the apartment. It was welcoming and well-equipped and made a perfect base for exploring the town and local area. Indeed, the apartment was so comfortable, it didn't matter that the weather was mixed: we were very happy to stay in and put our feet up when it rained! We would certainly return to Brixham and Captains Rest for future holidays.

Great location, family friendly

Has everything needed for a family holiday. Well furnished, clean, with thoughtful touches throughout. In a great location with access to Brixham centre and adjacent to a car park. Good base to explore the area as it offers easy access to Paignton, Torquay and other places of interest.

Family holiday

Flat was well equipped, the only issue we had was parking next to the flat was short stay so had to move the car quite a few times and repair work in the long stay car park made it difficult to find a space so had to pay for parking on top of the permit we had already paid for. The only other downside was the smell of cigarette smoke coming from flat 2, on the communal stair and if we had our balcony doors open. Not being smokers we seemed to notice it more maybe. The wine and card that greeted us after a long and slow journey was a very nice touch and milk in the fridge was a huge bonus

Great apartment in a fantastic location

We very much enjoyed our stay at this apartment, it was well equipped with comfortable beds in a fantastic location. We arrived on Saturday 29th June 2019, the hottest day of the year up to that date and I was worried that the apartment might be hot and stuffy. This was not the case. There are windows on three sides of the building and double doors to the Juliet balcony so it was easy to get a flow of air through. Thank you Sally and Colin, we had a really good time and didn't want to leave!

A thoroughly enjoyable stay over Christmas

We chose Brixham because we wanted somewhere that had a feel of authenticity, a working harbour and a place not totally given over to holliday makers and the 'pleasures' of the seaside resort. We chose Captain's Rest for its location. We were not disappointed in either respect. Brixham offerd us exctly what we wanted and the walks bothe east and west along the coastal path were splendid. It also proved to be an excellent place tofrom which to explore that part of Devon and we would have done much more of that given a longer stay. Everybody who has stayed at Captain's restr has commented on the fact that it is well equipped and indeed this was our experience. We were comfortable and at hole there and the location was very convenient for the shops, the harbour, the pub (the Blue Anchor) and the walks. Want a really picky criticism? I couldn't find a large fork for catving the turkey but I needn't have taken my own carving knife as the knives in the house were exceptional in that they were up to the job! And a view of the sea would have been nice but you can't have everything!

Spotless cozy apartment in an ideal location.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Captains Rest. The accommodation is cozy and contains everything to make it feel home from home. The location is superb, just round the corner from the harbour. There are lots of fabulous places to eat out. We bought the weekly parking pass recommended by Colin The car park is next door! Colin was really helpful before and during our stay ( thank you). Would recommend.

A wonderful stay

We had a fantastic holiday in Brixham and the Captains Rest was the ideal accommodation for us. It had everything we needed and was located close to the beautiful harbour. The apartment was clean and tidy upon arrival and we really appreciated the wine and welcome card. Colin and Sally went out of their way to provide us with a travel cot when we requested one which was very much appreciated. We will definitely be returning to Brixham and the Captains Rest in the future.
