There's loads to do in Chidori, but head farther afield and you'll find even more magic. Pick up a set of wheels and you can wander around the greater area at your leisure. Add these awesome drives to your itinerary:

• You'll discover Izu Oceanic Park and loads more interesting attractions in Ito. From Chidori, it's around 65 miles away.
• Your next pit stop? It has to be Nagano, which is around 120 miles away. Nagano Olympic Stadium is one local hot spot you shouldn't miss.
• Shirotori Garden is 170 miles from Chidori and is one of the region's most beautiful nature spots. Go for a walk around and enjoy the fresh air.
