"Amazing villa with 3 bedrooms and many lounge areas. The staff and owners were very accommodating and even brought our breakfast to us, as we weren’t staying on the main property. Very clean, amazing views, and it was all in a private neighborhood. It is very safe in Mindo.
Fresh fruit trees are growing in the backyard, and yes, you will see many new animals.
This is the perfect place for your “I need to do this” vacation.

"I honestly choose a resort, but I accidentally choose this area. However, I would recommend for those who are low budget travelers but who are willing to take a break and rest in their amazing hot springs. They do have hiking trail, but it is the best not to go in the midst of rain. You will slip and get yourself all muddy. I learn that that hard way. You can walk around the town, but honestly, there is not too much to see aside from the church and cemenetry. The church had an interestingsaint...

"The staff were incredibly helpful in arranging our taxis from the Quito airport to Mindo and back. Nice grounds, we were not there long enough to take a swim but the pool looked nice. Would recommend and would stay again."

"This lodge is located off the beaten track. It takes about 20 min to get here from Mindo on a narrow dirt road. The accommodation is basic but nice. Staff is small but very attentive. My cabin was spacious with one queen sized bed and three single beds (two of them in a loft). Nature around the lodge is beautiful."

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying with David at Tarrassas de Dana. The hotel is only 4 small bungalows. They are simply but elegantly designed and finished. The site if nothing less than spectacular. Gorgeous! Full of flowers, verdant mountains, hummingbirds and butterflies. David was a wonderful host and so very helpful. We had both breakfast and dinner at the hotel served on the private porch of our bungalow. Both were excellent.

I absolutely loved my night here. My only regret was that I only had 1 night! For sure I would return. Its just outside the city center which is fabulous if you value peace and quiet as I do. I loved the property that included a path to the river, hammocks, a lovely outdoor breakfast area, and a pool that had changing stalls and bathrooms. Even the walk to the river had bathrooms nearby and campsites which I would definitely make use of given the opportunity!

It is truly a dream hotel if your dream is to sleep amongst tropical birds and plants. It was incredible to wake up to hummingbirds, toucans, and parrots every day. The rooms are wonderful and the food is great. Strongly recommend

The owners and staff were wonderful. The property was very clean but rustic. A perfect mix in the jungle. Only a short drive to Mendo and all of the wonderful things to do there :-)

We loved the lodge and the excursions. My one complaint was with the transportation provided back to Quito. The driver was driving far too fast for road conditions and several people ended up vomiting from car sickness

Our experience were perfect in some many ways, the employes were very warm and helpful with the reservations for the local attractions, the entertainment living room in the hotel with the games and the karaoke let us enjoy in a safety way, the room was excelent and very confortable, the absence of tv wasnt necessary, I will absolutely return there and recommend them.
My only sugestion is to put a fan inside de room.
Thank you for everything!!

Wonderful experience at the Bio Hostal Cloud Forest! Luis and his staff could not have been more gracious and helpful. The rooms were large, bathrooms clean and tidy. Excellent breakfast included in rate. Hummingbirds are on the terrace, the rural life with the chickens are out of a movie. yu
The only thing that keeps me from a 5 star overall rating was the erratic wifi. However there are several places in the town where the signal was great. We would definitely recommend, and will return if the...

I booked this lodge in November and arrived in march. Expedia did not inform them of my arrival (pre-payed ) All the staff do not speak English .I had to call my previous hotel for a translator .I showed them my conformation . They were
booked out ,but made a room available to me for 3 lovely days. This is a very isolated area , a national park .Tulipe
is a small town of maybe 50 people on a cobble road . What a peaceful place. they have historical dig sites all over the hills. a small museum...

Bellavista Cloud Forest Reserve and Lodge is an amazing place to stay. They have extremely knowledgeable birding and wildlife guides and the people who work there are super nice. The food is great, although the options are limited.
The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. Ours looked out into the cloud forest. Don't expect a luxury experience. This is a fairly remote location that is ideal for nature lovers and particularly birders. I would recommend getting a package if you go that...

There was plenty of birds and trails.
The staff was very nice and helpful.
The food was unexpectedly great.
The road getting up to the reserve is a little rocky/bumpy but thats literally the only concern everything else was amazing.

The best area to stay in Escalera is the area surrounding the main square, known as Parque Central, and the streets immediately adjacent to it.
This central area is the heart of Escalera, characterized by its well-maintained historic architecture and the prominent Church of San Francisco overlooking the square. It's very walkable, with local shops, cafes, and restaurants clustered within a few blocks of the park. Most of the town's activities and local life revolve around this central hub.
Couples often find this area ideal for a romantic and relaxed trip. The quiet evenings around Parque Central, coupled with easy access to intimate dining experiences, create a pleasant setting. Many of the boutique accommodations in this area offer charming courtyards and personalized service, superb for a special getaway.
For solo travelers, staying near Parque Central provides convenience and a sense of connection to the local community. It's easy to meet other travelers or locals at the cafes, and most local tours and activities depart from or can be arranged from this central point.
When is the best time to go to Escalera?
The best time to go to Escalera is during the dry season, which generally runs from June to September.
During these months, you can expect clearer skies and less rainfall, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking and exploring the natural beauty of the region. The temperatures are pleasantly mild during the day, great for enjoying the scenic vistas and local attractions without the interruption of heavy downpours.
Travelers looking for a relaxed and comfortable trip will find this period particularly appealing, as the weather allows for more consistent planning of day excursions.
