"If you're looking for a place to stay that is the exact opposite of a Hampton Inn, this is the place for you! We stayed in Cottage 2, which looks like a shack from the outside but inside it was the sweetest little cottage. It made me so happy. The wood stove was ready to light. There was a precious cribbage board, inscribed on the back; recent novels in the book rack; and everything you need to be comfortable. It's tiny and there's a circle route from the door through the kitchen, to the living room, the bedroom and back. As I walked around the place, I just smiled. So homey! The lake is right outside, and the walk down to the lighthouse is a good walk. We saw zillions of warblers and other birds. The woman who runs the place was terrific. Everything was easy. No long list of "don't do this, don't do that" that typifies AirBnB stays. A great experience overall and the highlight of our road trip through Ontario."

"This was a very reasonable priced rental. The fact that it has been recently renovated made it appealing . We enjoyed using the kitchen to make diners. I only planned to stay one night but I was enjoying all the home comforts so much that we booked a second night. This location is 11 minutes to The Algoma Canyon train station. We went on the 10 hour round trip tour. It was nice to come back to the apartment and relax after a long day."

"Couldn't ask for more. We've stayed at about a dozen different cottages in northern Ontario and Lakeside Cottages in Bruce Mines is the best. The beds are comfy, the price is reasonable, the cottage comes fully stocked (no upcharge for bedsheets like some places!!!), the kitchen is full and also stocked (salt and pepper and oil and coffee!!!), the cottages are clean and pretty, the view is amazing, the firewood is onsite and included (not $20 for a tiny bundle like some places...), reasonable canoe rentals, beautiful lawn and playground for the kids, and the hosts are so nice, great at communication! This is our second year visiting and we WILL be back!"
