  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Awesome beach vacation

House was exactly as described and we had a great stay! Super close and easy walk to the beach, maybe 5 minutes which is what we were looking for. Pool and hot tub were really nice as well. Would definitely recommend and we would stay again for sure

Great family rental

It was the perfect size for 4 adults, 4 kids (10-5yo) and a baby! The office off the kitchen was a great playroom, and the kids loved being able to scooter and play basketball on the driveway. Easy walk to the beach, low traffic and the beach was never remotely crowded. We did not like the Hospitality app - kept crashing constantly.

Property location was great to access the beach and the main drive to get places. The space was large enough for our group of six to be together or have our own space. We had a door issue and maintenance came out two days later, and did an excellent job fixing it. Cleanliness was an issue for our stay; bathmats clearly not washed between rentals, doors/handles on refrigerator and pantry were dirty, outdoor shower was littered with shampoo bottles and dryer lint. The management company said they would send someone out to clean the outdoor shower and never did. We were frustrated with the housekeeping issues as the rest of the property seemed great.

Amazing beach

It was an amazing time staying at OBX. We came from CT and had a long drive, luckily house was ready early and they texted us. The 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths were perfect for the two families we went with. The wrap around decks were amazing. There were two ways to go to the beach and we tried them both. The beach itself was one of the nicest beaches I’ve ever seen. The only thing I didn’t love was the kitchen was on 3rd floor and we wanted to be outside by the pool and bringing up and down food was a pain, but that’s such a 1st world problem lol! The hot tub and pool was the best part! Our kids had hours and hours of fun and slept like babies every night. Adults too! I enjoyed having a dip in the hot tub every night after a day at the beach. We would definitely go back! Just need to recover from the drive haha! Was it worth 14 hours in the car with our kids? I think so it was amazing thank you for having us!

Family vacation 2022

We had a wonderful time at Key to Paradise! We had 8 adults and one teenager. We were able to see so many amazing attractions. We saw Currituck,Bodie and Hatteras lighthouses, sunset at Jockeys Ridge,The Elizabethian Gardens, The Lost Colony and Manteo waterfront. We were thankful to have a pool and hot tub to soak my aching feet! The walk to the beach was not far but with the heat and steep dunes we only made it a few times! It was worth it to see the ghost crabs at night! The stairs and the walk to the beach were a little difficult for my elderly parents and a workout for me as well.

Would stay there again!

We had a great time at this property. It's very spacious and clean. The kids loved the pool. Hubby and I loved the hot tub. We loved that it was a 6 min walk to the beach. Kitchen was stocked with everything you'd need for cooking. Beds were all comfortable. It was a great place for my family to be able to spend vacation. My only issue and it has zero to do with the house was a 6pm check in was to me a little late to be checking in. I know I could have paid for an earlier check in but I've stayed in plenty of other places in OBX and was able to check in sooner. Felt like we missed a day there bc of it but it won't stop us from coming back. Might just try another company. Over all. Awesome place!!!!!

Loved the house, pool, and hot tub! Very clean, everything was just as stated. Kitchen well-equipped and clean. Even had a ‘neighborhood cat’ that came to visit for a lovin’! Beautiful ocean views and good access to the beach. Lots of great food places also.

Amazing getaway

We booked this property for our first family beach vacation. I was amazed at how great the place was. The pool and hot tub were a favorite of the kids. The location is perfect. The street is quiet, until the garbage truck came through at 3:17AM. Lol. One thing to note, if you take the trail that goes to the beach the path over the dunes is very steep, and the loose sand makes it difficult to climb. We just wound up going to the end of the street and crossing over on the stairs there. It is the longer walk but not ridiculously so. The only complaint we have about the property is that when you are in the bedrooms on the second floor, the floors above creak loudly and you can hear everyone walking around upstairs. It is loud enough that it woke some people from sleep. Beside that we had a tremendous time, the taco shop in the mall behind the house has fantastic food. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, and pretty much anything you need to prepare a meal. We will definitely be staying here again. I wish there had been a guest book to sign then not just leaving online thank you and review for the property owners.

A nice home for a week vacation

It's a home with a good location that can fit two families. The pool is nice, location is good - outside of that no real "frills", just a solid home that has everything you need and can be the hub of a vacation. We went during Covid times, and the check in and out was seamless. No personal contact with anyone. Wouldn't hesitate to book this house again.,

Good experience

Overall good experience.. we stayed late in the season and there was some obvious wear and tear but overall great home.. good location on a quiet street.. very close to the beach. Absolutely loved sitting in the pictured top deck at night to listen to the waves crash! Lovely week.
