Practically anywhere on Kuta's western shoreline is a beach, so nearly every Downtown Kuta hotel is just minutes from beach activities. Learn to surf at Kuta Beach. Legian City-Centre, with many beach resort hotels, is a great place to stay for the northern beaches of Seminyak, Legian, and laid-back Double Six. Staying in the Kartika Plaza area provides convenient access to the boardwalk between Segara Beach and Jerman Beach. South of Kuta, accommodations in Jimbaran Beach are near the neighborhood beach and just a 30-minute drive from less crowded Balangan Beach and Dreamland Beach on the southwestern shore and Pandawa Beach on the southern shoreline.

When a break from the beach is in order, Kuta has plenty of great spots for shopping. Stay in Downtown Kuta to browse more than 100 stores, restaurants, and services on the four levels of the Beachwalk Shopping Center, enjoying its open design with lush greenery. Accommodations in the Kartika Plaza neighborhood are very close to the beachfront Discovery Shopping Mall, with 150 tenants, year-round events, and a great location for viewing sunsets. The nearby Kuta Art Market features local crafts and souvenirs. For Jenggala ceramics, choose from two places to stay: A hotel in the Jimbaran Beach neighborhood is near the factory and showroom, while the northern section of Sunset Road is close to the factory outlet, with discounted items and slightly imperfect pieces.

The Balinese culture has fascinating elements of religion, dance, music, food, and art. Stay in the Jimbaran Beach neighborhood, where the Kampoeng Bali restaurant hosts live kecak fire dance performances. A hotel in Legian City-Centre is close to the Petitenget Hindu temple along the western shoreline, while accommodations in Kartika Plaza are near the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, whose presence shows the contrasting religious practices in the country. Stay in Raya Kuta to be close to the Dalem Kahyangan Temple, with a magnificent entrance and shady location. The nearby Cinemaxx theater offers first-run movies in air-conditioned comfort.
