True, being up for sunrise certainly helps, but even throughout the day the beaches of Las Peñitas are for the most part deserted.

Just be sure to check with the locals before diving into the water; while some stretches are perfect for swimming, others are a little rougher and can be dangerous for the unprepared.

“Great location. Nice staff. Hammocks to relax in and communal kitchen. Room was basic but to be expected for the bargain price and had everything you need. No air con but did have a very effective fan. Good wifi. Shower ok. Great value for money. Would stay again. ”

“The rooms had private bathrooms which usually would cost more at other hotels. Receptionist was really friendly and helpful. You can park your car in nearby car parks if you need. The walk was a little far from the center of the town but still ok. We could do the laundry there with the machines which was great. Maybe some curtains to block the light in the windows would be great, as well as less high pillows. The bathroom was generally clean but there were still some hairs in the shower.”

![Being only a 30 minute bus ride from downtown León, it's hard to imagine a beach this beautiful being so deserted. 
True, being up for sunrise certainly helps, but even throughout the day the beaches of Las Peñitas are for the most part deserted.

Just be sure to check with the locals before diving into the water; while some stretches are perfect for swimming, others are a little rougher and can be dangerous for the unprepared.
