Good value for a comfortable stay

The hotel is good and reasonably well maintained. Close enough to Subway stations going into Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. Neighbourhoods can be a bit rough but I feel safe.

So the hotel is what this price brings you: a private bedroom in a walkable place that is seven to eight minutes to the subway station. My perception is even shorter. If F train doesn’t work you can take 7, N and W, which is also only a short walk (15 min) away, although not short by Manhattan standards. Also the owner is nice (shout out to him, has been very helpful). Other than that? I personally think this neighborhood is safe, although a newcomer’s perception may differ, given that some of the surrounding areas are not adequately lighted (esp on the corner 11th and 40th Ave), there seemed to be some people who may not look very friendly at first glance, but I think they are just fine. Also I saw NYPD officers patrolling at one night, which is a big plus. The room seems to be not thoroughly cleaned before it was put into use, such that I saw some remained cement which appeared a bit sticky. Also the power button if remote control doesn’t work, so I have to wear an eye mask and use fully black screen on YouTube to emulate the power-off mode. They’re also severely understaffed such that there is probably always a long wait if you wanna get something done. I tried to get a new remote control but gave up because the line is long. To be clear the owner told me to tell him what I need if I encountered anything, but I am busy exploring the city so I don’t have the time but for me hot water and private clean bed is enough.Those could all be improved after a few months or years tho

I accidentally booked the wrong date. I repeatedly called the property to update the dates accordingly, but no one ever answered the phone. I reached out to Expedia. They too tried to reach the property, but never received an answer. This is TERRIBLE customer service! How can you charge me for a hotel that I did not stay in!?!? I will NEVER book with this property again!

This has been a great experience at Capital Hotel. Although my stay was short, this place was welcoming from the start. Michael was the one who greeted me at the front desk and he was thoughtful and kind. I had asked for an early check in and he was kind enough to get me in quick. The room was clean and put together and made everything easy access in the area. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you to the staff who greeted me and bid me farewell!

The property staff is rude, asked me to sign a blank paper for the credit card authorization and refused my entry when I denied ... and didn't even refund, save your money and don't fall into the low prices, also check their terms where they charge 100usd for authorization with no psperwork

In terms of staff they did and excellent job on making the experience as enjoyable as possible, they gave me options of switching my room when it was unclean and switched me but the room I was switched to was dirty and had a big hole in the shower, the toilet was not clean, the shower had old hair and dirt build up on the floor, in terms of area I would just say yourself the trouble because not to far you’re in a bad spot of NY. So overall I’ll never book here again

My stay at Capital Hotel was very disappointing. The room had visible roaches, which made it feel unclean and uncomfortable. The bed was extremely hard and not at all restful. The staff were strange and unprofessional, which made the overall vibe even worse. To make matters worse, I was given a hard time when trying to get back my $100 security deposit—even though I left the room clean and undamaged. It felt like they were trying to avoid returning it without a valid reason. I would not recommend staying here. There are definitely better options for the price.
