The Retreat Hosted by The Woodworker's Wife

The upstairs studio cottage evokes a relaxed country cottage theme. The studio has two dormers that add to its charm. The electric fireplace was designed and built by the woodworker. Many tables included in the studio are custom made by the woodworker himself.
The Retreat is equipped with a microwave, Keurig coffee maker, and a Frigidaire mini cooler.
Our home is across the driveway, so we are nearby if you need assistance.
The Retreat is minutes from some of the best restaurants, boutiques, museums, antiques, hiking trails, and wineries. Trolley pickup to the wineries is available downtown (reservations required). Ste Genevieve has many sleepy country roads just waiting for cyclist. Our quant French Colonial town has a rich history for visitors longing to step back in time.

Loved this VRBO
The hospitality of the host was amazing! She had music playing, cookies, and an immaculately clean and thoughtfully decorated place waiting for us. She sent us home with a basket of fresh fruit. The place was perfect for us for a weekend gettaway and we loved our stay. Highly recommended!!

Peaceful retreat!
Perfect little getaway location. The hosts had everything you would need at your disposal. We sat in the outdoor area and took in the scenery. Request the chocolate chip cookies . . . amazing.

Delightful and relaxing
From the moment I arrived I felt relaxed. The property is lovely and the Retreat area is inviting. The inside was larger than expected, the decor was as pictured and every area was very clean - loved it. The bed/pillows were very comfortable and the water in the shower got as hot as I needed. There was a lot of natural light, which I loved, but plenty of overhead light, when needed. The fireplace was a nice touch and plan on using it the next time I go back. Rick and Sandy provided a notebook of information that was very helpful, noting in it; a little of their history, specifics of the Retreat and wineries/restaurants to check out, in town. I loved the fire pit area, just below the Retreat stairs and used it both nights I was there, even though it was hot. The setting was so peaceful, and the fire kept away the bugs while I enjoyed a glass of wine. The trip and time at The Retreat was perfect. My intention was to relax and de-stress and that was easily done at such a delightful place.

Highly Recommend this Beautiful Location
Beautifully decorated, super clean and with everything you need to enjoy a visit to St Genevieve. It’s close to the historic district, restaurants and a perfect place to stay for winery visits. Hosts go above and beyond in truly making The Retreat a welcoming, fun and relaxing place with so many extra amenities that we have never experienced before, even a personalized sign! Loved watching the birds, squirrels and ground hog in the woods from the deck - wish we had had time for the fire pit - maybe next time. Enjoyed having the chance to meet the hosts! Thanks for a great stay.
