"Our stay was wonderful overall. Loved the remote location. All we saw or heard were the sheep and cows. The walk to Rubha Hunish was great. Another review mentioned that it feels like the end of the world, and it really does. It was nice to talk to Alan the Crofter and pet his family of collies as well. "
"Accommodations were as represented in the listing. Plenty of hot water. Excellent location in town with great views out the windows of the second story master window. Washer was convenient as you could do an extra spin and drain and then air dry thinner clothing. There were some limited spices for cooking. Parking was available every time although late at night probably would have had difficulty getting parking across the street.I would stay here again with a family and looking at the hotels in town, having this space is probably much more convenient especially with potential difficulty with dinner reservations during high season"

"This cottage is beautiful, and is in such a peaceful setting…just what we needed after a month in the cities. It was actually bigger than the photos made it out to be. The views were amazing, beds comfortable, and the kitchen was great. It was easy access to Portree, and centrally located to go do all the things on Skye, especially on the Trotternish Peninsula. We wish we could have stayed here longer. The extremely short walk to the hill above provide breathtaking views (wear hiking boots though).The host was easy to communicate with and responsive. 5 stars all the way around. "

"We had a wonderful stay at Tides Uig. The pictures do not capture how beautiful the view is from the home. We also loved the daily visits from the local sheep. The space was perfect for multigenerational group. We loved that each bedroom had its own bathroom. We also appreciated that basic supplies that were provided. The location was perfect with just a short drive to many locations on Skye, but away from the business of Portree. We had a wonderful dinner at the Uig Inn and two locations within walking distance for breakfast and lunch. We wished we had planned more time at Tides! "

"Quiet rural setting central on the island location, ideal base to explore Skye. Blackout blinds in upstairs rooms are excellent for children getting good sleep. Host responds quickly to any questions. "
"This was a beautiful rural property with lots of character. the road in was a single lane road with lots of potholes, but once entering the property the driveway was great with easy parking. rooms were large on a courtyard configuration. On site restaurant served excellent food and staff was outstanding . The complimentary continental breakfast was awesome and a lot more then we have experienced in other establishments. An outstanding stay and will highly recommend."
"Our stay here was perfectly timed in the middle of our trip, giving us the peaceful place to rest and recharge...not to mention wash clothes. It's modern with all amenities, beautiful and with tremendous views. All we would add would be a couple of hammocks and it would be perfect. Thank you for sharing it with us!"

"We had the perfect holiday on Skye staying at The Backrest and would highly recommend it. The house was so comfortable and warm, and provided everything we needed - and more. My favorite was the chairs in the window, perfect for watching the changing weather and enjoying the stunning scenery. The house was spotlessly clean, and we found all of the furnishings to be of the highest standard.The location is stunning, and excellent for venturing out to the amazing destinations that Skye has to offer. It was also handy having the facilities at Dunvegan nearby for all of those forgotten bits and pieces.The Backrest is a great dog friendly house to stay in, from the space for all of his bits and pieces, to the extra biscuit treats left out for him. Having a fenced in garden was also perfect for our puppy as it meant he could have his own adventures safely, and he found lots of new smells to get familiar with.We had a fantastic week and hope to visit again. Thank you to Mette, Sonia, and the pups for sharing it with us."
