I was visiting family in Kefalonia and just needed a room for the night before making my flight connection back to the US, I didn't explore the area at all.

Metro is next door, can get to Athens downtown in 45 minutes for 10 Euro round trip.
Athens city like most big cities is not beautify at all. The coastline is the place to stay and visit.
