“The property is a period house and the owner Chris has kept it to that style, very clean with a excellent breakfast cooked to perfection by Chris with a wide and varied choice of food. Whitwell is a designated dark sky area with some very pretty houses lots of thatched roofs,the local pub is only a few minutes walk and well worth a visit,the food is excellent. I would definitely recommend a stay at Kingsmede ,it fulfilled all my wife and I hopes”

“The breakfast was fantastic, definitely one of the best.There was loads of choice both hot and cold. Plus the chef was more than willing to make my scrambled egg with Oat and not Cow’s milk. The property was on a bus route and the bus stop was close by. I had booked this property as I was attending the Wickham Festival and pleasantly suprised to discover that the entrance was a 12 minute walk. ”

“Really warm welcome and chat with Mary - an absolute superstar who helped check us in, even though she had finished her shift! Our room was stylish and comfortable. Breakfast was just right with a variety of fruit, cereals, and breakfast baps. We will absolutely return.”

“Fabulous stay - loved it! Breakfast hamper was absolutely wonderful, though we couldn’t eat it all. Plenty of parking. Key code entry gives more flexibility as to arrival times, which suited us as we were spending the day and having dinner with friends so didn’t arrive till late. Brilliant one night break, will return without a doubt, and have already recommended to friends.”

“Lively, friendly pub with rooms around the corner from the main High St. Clean and tidy rooms. Good value. Limited parking when busy. As with rooms above pubs it is quite noisy but pretty well sound insulated and the pub closes relatively early. Staff were pleasant, helpful yet unintrusive. The room we had did not have main lighting so was very dark even with the side lights on and if you opened the blinds people on the street could see in - especially from the flat across the road. A net……
