"The hotel was nothing short of beautiful.The receptionist was very accomidating, nice and helpfull. We had a delicious dinner at the hotel resturant, and on top of the tasty dinner with unique dishes of the area, staying at the hotel will earn you a 10 percent discount at the resturant. The river right next to the hotel was a great and fun place to hangout with family and their was a very easy access to it through the hotel. Would definently recomend a stay here."

Only con is the property needs renovation; furnishings & decor is dated, but the town is small & 1500 years old."

Few electrical outlets, no cupboards or drawers for our clothes and poor lighting, but the heating worked and the shower was wonderful. The breakfast served was outstanding. "Great location and hotel! It’s a little older, but very charming. The staff person was wonderful, and the area is incredible! We parked right outside the beginning of the town, as driving on the narrow streets didn’t feel worth the short-ish walk to get there. "

"Fantastic hotel right in the centre of Portalegre. The staff were very helpful, the room was great and the breakfast was excellent. The neighbourhood is quaint with lovely old cobbled streets with good shops, interesting buildings and good restaurants. Easy access to the local national park. "
"The hotel is in an excellent location with good views over the rural landscape. The decorations are getting a little tired but it is still OK. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The one surprise that we had was that the only food on offer in the restaurant was local peasant food with no written menu available. The food was good but basic and we had no idea what it was going to cost us. The walls between the rooms are very thin as we could hear exactly what was going on in the neighbouring rooms!"
