17th-century manor house, piano, tennis court, heated swimming pool. Ideal for families

*** Booking conditions ***
- A deposit of 1,500.00 euros will be requested upon arrival when the keys are handed over and given directly to the owner or his representative.

***The property***
This beautifully restored charming mansion sits atop a hill with superb views of the surroundings. In the 13 ha park, private tennis (quick), secure heated swimming pool (12X6), table tennis and outdoor games are available to tenants. This house, from the start, was designed as a place of rest and relaxation. This rare charm has been preserved over time: most of the living rooms have a double exposure which guarantees maximum sunshine, the thickness of the walls guarantees freshness during the summer, period fireplaces allow at the start or at the end of the season to spend convivial moments in front of the living heat that the fire gives off. The 17th century elegance and modern comfort of the rest of the furniture, a large fully equipped kitchen and access to leisure activities such as piano (tuned), library, CD, DVD, satellite TV, table football ... you will allow you to spend a great holiday in Périgord

***The swimming pool***
The private outdoor swimming pool (12 x 6 m) has a safety shutter. It is heated to 26 ° C from early April to early October only.

In the immediate vicinity of the house, several well-maintained and sufficiently equipped spaces are available to you:
For outdoor dining, a large wooden table (12 people) is located near the kitchen. A barbecue is available (grilling also possible in the kitchen fireplace). Another wooden table (8 people) is located next to the swimming pool.
For the walk, a romantic alley in the middle of the woods where, depending on the season, you may discover chanterelles and porcini mushrooms.
For food lovers, fruit trees, most of which have become wild again, will, depending on the time, offer you plums, figs, pears and apples of yesteryear.
For athletes, private tennis (quick), heated heated swimming pool (12X6), table tennis and outdoor games are available.

The property is 2 km from the small village of Coulounieix. There you will find a bakery, a small cafe and a farmer's market which is held every Sunday morning in church square.
At 7km you will discover Périgueux, the ancient Cité Vésunna and its Gallo-Roman remains.
It is the capital of Périgord, classified 'city of Art and History' with its narrow alleys lined with private mansions, its protected districts and its Saint-Front cathedral, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site by the ways of Santiago de Compostela.

Within a radius of 30 to 50 km you can visit Brantôme, the "Venice of Périgord" as well as the very beautiful castle of Bourdeilles or even that of Puyguillhem inspired by the great Loire Castles. You can also discover the most famous prehistoric sites such as the Lascaux cave or even explore the Bergerac vineyard which is located south of Périgueux.
Périgord traditionally famous for its natural and historical heritage is also famous for its gastronomy. A wide choice of restaurants and lively markets throughout the year will guarantee you a full discovery.

Beautiful and comfortable historic property
It is rare to get the opportunity to stay at a property that has this much history yet all modern comfort and design & art that will blow you away. The original structure of the manor is from 1590, but there are also remains of a Roman building and there were finds from prehistoric times on the site. It was the perfect spot for exploring the region- the medieval castles and prehistoric caves, and all the culinary delights. Pascal was the perfect host; very responsive and ready to help with everything. We were a group of 10 staying for a week. Everyone really adored the place. We didn't really use the swimming pool as it was not very warm weather, but my teenage sons and nephews loved the tennis court-- they had never played before and now it has become their thing. I highly recommend Chef Jauvin- you have to hire him for at least a night. We were at a really nice restaurant in Perigord-- L'Essentiel-- but we actually preferred the dinner M. Laurent prepared at home. I wish I could share a picture of the cozy setting he prepared in the main dining room. I have rented many houses and apartments, but nothing this special. It's like a curated space. I wish we could have spent more time - one week is not enough to explore the region. The highlight was the cave of Rouffignac (recommended by Pascal- real caves with pre-historic carvings, not the replica shown in Lascaux) and a canoe trip on the Dordogne from Carsac to Beynac. Canoe Loisirs were great. Overall a fantastic trip.

A unique country home in a picturesque setting with plenty of space for the family. The home is well appointed, the beds are comfortable and the kitchen is VERY well equipped. The pool and tennis court are a plus. There is a lot to see and do in the area and Pascal was generous with his recommendations and quick to answer any questions we had. The on-site catered dinner was a highlight. A car is essential.

Amazing house
We really loved this house, having visited many French holiday properties over the years we think this was our favourite. It ticked all our boxes; it was comfortable and clean and really beautiful. It had a well equipped large kitchen, masses of outside space, including a number of dining tables, lots of TV channels plus music in kitchen and upstairs bedroom. The pool was big and deep, there were puzzles, games, books, films, table tennis, tennis court, badminton. Our adult children were always occupied. It was only a short drive to the bakery in the morning plus nearby supermarkets, however we were far enough away from neighbours to make as much noise as we wanted. Pascal our host was very responsive and helpful. The ONLY negative was the hornets, there were quite a few around so we tried to keep the doors and windows closed of an evening. In saying that they just flew to the ceiling and didn’t really bother us. Certainly wouldn’t stop us returning. There was a fig tree just outside the kitchen that was maybe attracting them- we ate so many beautiful figs though so that was a positive!! Everything else was spot on and we would definitely return. Thank you for sharing your house with us Pascal.

First class accommodation
Right from the initial booking process, communication from Pascal, the owner, was smooth and with instant replies, Pascal speaks very good English. Pascal was more than accommodating to our needs, and made sure everything was perfect for our stay. The house is in a beautiful setting with extensive wooded grounds which was perfect for both children and adults . The property is isolated, but well secured and in easy reach of local facilities.. We particularly enjoyed our daily visit to the nearby award winning boulangerie. The pool is large and well maintained. The gardener Daniel, who visits three times in the week is very helpful. One of the highlights of our holiday was a private chef recommended by Pascal. We highly recommend this service. It was an excellent meal for adults and children. The chef was excellent in catering for individual dietary requirements. The house itself is beautiful decorated ,spacious, well furnished and really well equipped . Overall , eight adults and six children had a brilliant holiday. Thank you Pascal, we highly recommend your property.

Perfect holiday
We were a mixed group of 5 adults and 5 teenagers. The house had the perfect selection of rooms for all of us. The pool is big and has steps down in to it, and was cleaned and taken care of by the gardener who came three times in the one week we were there. The house was immaculate and a maid also came in the middle of the week. There is a tennis court, table tennis, table football, woods and a lovely garden to spend time in. The property is lovely and full of history whilst having modern bathrooms and a kitchen with everything you may need for cooking at home. A 'prize winning ' boulangerie is in the nearby village where we bought croissant, chocolatines and fresh bread every day - absolutely delicious! We had breakfast in the garden every day. Perigeuex is nearby and there are supermarkets etc within a very short drive, and horse riding and canoing too. We could not have chosen a better or more beautiful place to stay. One week was not enough! Thank you to Pascal, the charming owner, for his excellent taste and beautiful home.

Fantastic Experience
We stayed for one week in April 2022 and the whole experience was perfect. We were delayed arriving and Pascal the owner was so accommodating and kept in touch throughout the stay to ensure everything was ok. The house is amazing with so much character, from the big open fires to the lovely spot down by the pool. We were a big party of 4 adults and 8 children and there is so much space to explore everyone had a fantastic time. We hope to return one day !

We had a wonderful family gathering at Pascal's
We were a party of nine adults and five children varying in age from 70 to 18 months. There was plenty of private space for all of us. The family meals outside in the evening were magical, the stuff memories are made off. Afternoons by the pool were very much enjoyed by all ages. A truly wonderful house full of character, and very safe spaces for young children. Thank you Pascal we would love to return.

Amazing find
What a great place for both adults and children, for peace and tranquility there are away from it all seating in the trees and for the more active and adventurous there's tennis and swimming, plus a small forest to play in. Then there's the house which is large enough to swallow 3 or 4 families, and Pascal could not be more helpful.

Wonderful manoir, super holiday for 3 families
Beautiful manoir, well renovated and tastefully furnished. Superb garden with a varitey of seating and lounging options, including hammacs in the woods. Big swimming pool and a tennis court shaded in the late afternoon - we were there during the heat wave. Perigueux is only a few minutes drive away, we enjoyed the marché gourmand on Wednesday evening. Also great time kayaking in the river Vezere. We were 6 adults and 8 kids- we all loved it. Many thanks to Pascal for his welcome and for looking after such a beautiful place.

A wonderful and happy holiday at Le Manoir
What a magical holiday house, redolent of history and character; but at the end of the day still a much loved home. We couldn't have chosen a better place in which to celebrate a milestone birthday with three generations of the family present. The Manor was immaculately clean with the garden area carefully tended to provide a carefree environment in which to relax and have fun. There couldn't have been a better place in which to enjoy two alfresco dinners beautifully prepared and served by Lauren and Patrick. The swimming pool was well maintained and clean, something in stark contrast with a number of other properties we have visited in the past. Pascal was most helpful and welcoming, both in our preparations and during our stay. He gives every impression of really wanting all his guests to enjoy their holiday in his home. We certainly did and much look forward to the next occasion when we can experience the same again.

Perfect house, perfect host, highly recommended!
Stay for one week, all was perfect, house, pool, tennis court, weather and the Owner/Host. Pascal kindly helped with all we needed on site, was responding quickly and efficiently, no single issue on site, and we had very sunny June, I wish I could have 2-3 weeks there. Great value for money. Pictures are not as good as actual house and green area around it, green trees cover all around it, feeling very private with no external houses or anyone seen from the area/house, so very calm and peaceful environment, all surrounded by trees and green views and wonderful flowers, enjoyed everything with my family. Fresh local baguette every morning, really different from anything I can buy in London, local small food markets and towns, local delicacies, very recommend visiting Brantome, but we preferred to stay and enjoy the house, pool and the area around it. House is well refurbished, perfect views from all windows, authentic old feeling of small castle with well-preserved antique design. Old stone walls made cool and refreshing feeling inside the house, even though during the day outside temperature was 33-34 Celsius. Highly recommend if you need to recharge from busy city life. Also, we had twice ordered local chef Laurant to whom Pascal has introduced us. Perfect birthday celebration for my family. One day we return for longer stay!

How you imagine France to be.
The photographs don't do this house justice, it is simply stunning. We were told the building dates from 1590 and it certainly makes you feel as though you are staying in a traditional French Chateau. It feels grand and historical yet has all the modern conveniences you could need. The house, grounds, pool and tennis court are very well maintained. The kitchen is very well equipt. Pascal the owner has made this place wonderful. He was very welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful in the booking, check in and out. He is super quick at responding to any emails and queries. The recommendation of a chef to come and make dinner is well worth taking up too. Great value (far less than a similar meal out) and 4 delicious courses plus canapes. The only ways this place could possibly be improved would be to have a better internet connection as it was intermittent. It would also be lovely to have curtains at all the bedroom windows in addition to the shutters that are already there. However that is being picky. This was a fabulous holiday rental and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if the opportunity arose in the future.

A Magnificent unusual historic building in a glorious location with exceptional service.
We booked the Manoir for a special family get together with 3 generations ranging from age 17 to nearly 80 so 3 families. We were all spellbound by the scale of the property, it's history, and the beauty of it's setting. The well designed interior with large cool reception rooms were all well appointed with interesting art and artefacts. There was plenty of space for us all. The bedrooms were very comfortable, and clean, and the bathrooms worked well for us too, with enough for such a large group. The overall layout worked well for us as there was space for everyone to find their own activity, whether swimming, playing cards, playing tennis, singing and playing the piano, filming, reading in the hammock or on one of the many sun loungers, sunbathing, chatting at one of the many tables set up in various locations around the garden or eating! We ate outside every night and booked an outstanding local chef, recommended by our host, for one evening for a special dinner. We loved the proximity to Perigueux for trips to buy delicious local food from the market and speciality shops, and also enjoyed the closeness of the village Boulangerie- with the daily bread run as the first task of the day. Pascal gave us a wonderful welcome, he was very informative and ensured we knew exactly how everything worked. The staff were also most reliable and helpful, both the cleaning team and the gardener Daniel who checked and maintained the pool three times during our stay. We enjoyed our stay so much we plan to return.

Fabulous retreat for our large family gathering
Our party of 11 - 7 adults, 2 teenagers, and 2 small children gathered at Pascal's wonderful home at the end of July, to celebrate several momentous birthdays. We had spent a year anticipating this week, and we were not disappointed. Faultless, and we cannot recommend it highly enough. The home is grand without being overwhelming. Large airy rooms, polished wooden floors, stone staircases and thick stone walls, rooms lined with art books and music, tasteful, period furniture and antique sculpture. Solid working kitchen - not particularly modern, but in keeping, functional and practical for our large party (we ate in every night), giving easy access to the sweeping lawn down to the pool. Modern bathrooms and plentiful hot water. The largest pool (heated, and maintained throughout the week by a discrete gardener who arrived early to clean it and water pots) I have seen at a private holiday residence, and a fabulous tennis court which was well used during our week. We were in regular contact with Pascal prior to our arrival, he answered all our pre trip questions, and met us on arrival - and kindly allowed us to deposit our bags early so we could empty our car in order to carry out a big initial shop for our week. He is warm and welcoming - and justifiably proud of what he has created here. There are several eating areas - we ate in the sunny courtyard for breakfast ( having had a quick sortie by car to the award winning boulangerie), and every evening meal was at a large table on the lawn, shaded by trees, with overhead lanterns for when the dark set in. There are other smaller seating areas dotted around the property - our party could disperse and gather at will, find space for ourselves, but be together comfortably. On the Thursday evening of our stay, we held our special celebration - and were treated to a wonderful evening hosted by Laurent Jauvin, a chef recommended by Pascal. We couldn't have been more pleased - bringing his own linens, cutlery etc, Laurent and his assistant created an atmospheric table for us in the garden, and served an amazing 3 course meal - taking special care with the children in the party. Pascal can't take credit for the long sunny days which we also enjoyed for our stay, but deserves much credit for everything else, this is a truly lovely setting for a large family gathering. Thank you Pascal!

Paradise!
We had a brilliant week with 3 families at Pascal's gorgeous chateau. So much for the kids and adults to do. We would normally be out everyday exploring the area when we stay in France but the place is so brilliant we hardly left! Tennis was a hit, as was the table tennis and table football. All in all a very special place.

at the request of the owner, I write my review in Dutch. Daar zaten we elke avond, zeer gezellige plaats. Overdag is het hier soms te warm. Midden in de week komt een poetsvrouw om de keuken, alle badkamers en de toiletten te poetsen. En we krijgen verse badhanddoeken. Heel aangenaam.

Beijk
