Hot Tub, Screened Porch, Fire Pit at River Cabin

Summary:
Forest River Lodge is a secluded cabin nestled in the West Virginia mountains – just steps from the river – with everything you need for your getaway.

The highlights:
- Relax in the outdoor hot tub!
- Hang out in the huge screened-in porch or around the fire pit
- Grill on the spacious deck
- 3 min drive (or pleasant walk) to private river access for swimming, fishing, & splashing around!
- Drive 20 mins into Berkeley Springs for amazing restaurants, shopping, & dozens of festivals

Enjoy!

The Space:
Our family-friendly cabin is packed with amenities and fun for couples, families or small groups of friends.

The cabin includes:
- Outdoor hot tub perfect for relaxing
- 2 bedrooms: one with a queen bed, and the other with a queen + twin bunk combo (3 beds total)
- Additional pull-out sofa in the main living room
- Fully-stocked kitchen with stove/oven and microwave
- Wood stove to keep you cozy at night (plus baseboard heaters if you want to keep things easy)
- Outside fire pit with seating for the whole gang
- An outdoor yard game treasure box full of activities for kids and adults: cornhole, volleyball, soccer balls, horseshoes, and many more!

Our cabin also has private access to the Cacapon River, just a quick 15 min walk from the cabin. It’s perfect (especially on a hot day!) for swimming, fishing, or splashing around.

One quick note: our cabin is secluded, and without Internet or cell service. We love disconnecting from the world while we're there and putting away our smart phones, but please plan accordingly. That said, we have plenty of board games, outdoor games, and the hot tub to enjoy!

Please be advised you have rented a mountainous property. AWD or 4X4 is recommended. The main and secondary roads are usually paved. However, there are many side roads that are gravel or hard-packed dirt surfaces. You may experience potholes, ruts, steep inclines, and rough terrain. Most front-wheel drive vehicles have no trouble accessing the property from these roads if you drive safely and slowly. We do not recommend low-profile vehicles such as sports cars or motorcycles. During inclement weather such as snow or ice, you may be required to have 4-wheel drive or tire chains. We also recommend Travel Insurance during the winter months. We do not give refunds for road conditions that are out of our control.

We often take our three little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family- and dog-friendly. Unfortunately we don't allow cats (we're allergic).

Beyond the cabin itself, we love how close to Berkeley Springs (a 20 min drive away). Berkeley Springs has been voted one of the top arts communities in the US, and has fantastic breweries, restaurants, and shops for you to enjoy!

Great value, great location
We stayed for a quick last minute getaway. Lots of value for the price. The house was well stocked with necesseties and mostly clean. It could use a more regular deep clean as the windwsills by the kids bed had old bugs, cobwebs on some decor and under the couch trundle bed was very dirty. There wasnt wifi and the number that was left for us couldnt be used on the house phone. None of this hindered our stay though. Hot tub was the reason we booked and very easy to use and enjoy. no neighbors on that side of the house. We had a fun time with all of the games movies and puzzles. Would definitely stay again!

Great getaway - As described.
Had a great visit to the cabin and Toni was a great host. I was seeking a secluded cabin with a clean hot tub/firepit and that’s what I found. The host was great about expectations… you absolutely need a suv or Awd to maneuver the hill driveway in the winter but it’s so worth it. No wifi and no cell service, it was fantastic to disconnect. The advice to arrive with groceries and firewood was a must follow. Comfortable bed. There is another cabin the property looks down on but that’s to be expected. Really only noticed them when they were loud or in their hot tub but overall the property was so silent! If you’re seeking solitude, nature and stargazing… this is a great choice. Special note book a Roman bath in Berkeley Springs. Absolutely amazing.

Summarization of property was accurate and perfect for what we were looking for. Look forward to staying again and appreciated the host’s recommendations. Everywhere we went was amazing. Caught off guard local shops only open on the weekend in off season.

Make sure you are okay with being disconnected from the internet and cell service. We knew this going into it and enjoyed our time as a family together without the distractions.

Good location, several issues
Positives: It is a lovely location and the bed was comfortable. Check in was easy and the management company was super responsive. Negatives: The place is a little more run down than I had expected based on the positive reviews and price. The management company was super responsive and lovely - but there were so many issues that I still have to give it three stars. Most importantly, the shower was broken. No shower for the whole weekend and the bath wasn’t an option since the hot water heater runs out very quickly. I’m guessing they will fix it before the next guest. Not negative but good to know: the road is really steep. We were there in September so ideal weather. I got up it in my Jetta but I wouldn’t recommend it for a nervous driver or in any kind of winter weather.

Nice and cozy cabin
This cabin was just what we were looking for. Well furnished with comfy beds and sofas. Good selection of movies and games. Hot tub, grill, and firepit also a huge plus. One thing to keep in mind is the steep hill on the drive up. 4WD or AWD definitely recommended

Few days to unplug
Trip and host were great! No complaints, and looking forward to staying again! 4wd is recommended for the last 1/4 mile because it is steep and unpaved with several large rocks to clear or watch for as of March ‘23. Seeing the sunrise from the hot tub while listening to the woods wake up should be on your list of things to do. Berkley Springs Brewery is a nice spot with good selection. The other cabins in the community are far enough apart to have a sense of privacy while remaining visible.

Relaxing at its finest!
The property was just as advertised and in wonderful condition. The house was very clean and had everything we needed for the weekend - kitchen appliances and supplies, bathroom toiletries, and movies and games galore! Even though it was winter, we got outside and enjoyed the screened in porch, firepit, and hot tub! It was a beautiful, short drive to Berkeley Springs where we ate a dinner, shopped, and reserved time at the Berkeley Springs Roman Bath House for a hot spring soak. My husband, two young boys, and our dog had a great getaway weekend!

Relaxing weekend away!
We loved our stay in this cabin tucked away in the West Virginia woods! Tony was very communicative and flexible. We loved sitar gazing in the hot tub at night, and the cozy living room was perfect for daily life. The fireplace was SO nice. We also loved getting away from the world - very limited cell service, no Wi-Fi. So be prepared to be present in the moment! There are other houses around, but the area is very quiet. Also a note, the landline doesn’t do long-distance calls which we weren’t expecting in order to check-in with people once we arrived. We watched movies on the DVD player (how retro) and it was perfect. We also went to Whitetail to ski on Saturday, about an hour away. The only caveat to know is the driveway for the property - the half mile dirt/gravel road is very steep, and has a lot of potholes. We thought we’d be fine because there was no snow/ice, but our little Prius did struggle. It ended up being fine once we knew what we were dealing with, but it was a bit of a surprise. In the rain it also was not ideal. Our Prius did make it, but we’d recommend you taking a four-wheel vehicle or arriving in the daytime.

A fantastic get away
A small group of friends used this amazing space for our winter solstice get away. The cabin is indeed 'off the grid' meaning very little cell reception and no internet - which makes for a delightful retreat. We were able to enjoy the fire pit, gaze at the stars from the hot tub, and enjoy so much of the common space and kitchen. The space is very cozy and great for gatherings (too often livingrooms/common spaces feel like an afterthought in rentals). This was a really great space.

Great stay
Everything was great, Tony stayed in touch but not too often. We had a situation at home where we needed to be able to be reached. Tony gave us the phone number of the landline to the house so we could be contacted( cell service is spotty at best). It was very nice of him to do that and the entire home was well outfitted and exactly as he described. We would stay again.
