Welcome to Grinning Bear, a cozy rustic cabin tucked among the pines of Island Park — just 40 minutes from Yellowstone’s West Entrance! This all-wood retreat features an indoor fireplace, shelves of books and games, and warm, inviting spaces to unwind after a day outdoors. Relax on the porch, grill on the BBQ or Blackstone, and gather around the backyard fire pit - you might even spot a moose wondering nearby!

Step into a classic log cabin filled with warmth and charm. Nearly every surface is natural wood, creating that true mountain-cabin feel. Curl up by the crackling electric fireplace with a hot drink, flip through a good book, or enjoy game nights in the cozy living area.

The kitchen is stocked with essentials for cooking, and the bedrooms offer peaceful sleep after a day in Yellowstone. Whether you`re winding down inside or getting fresh mountain air outdoors, Grinning Bear is all about slowing down and savoring nature.

The two closest major airports are Bozeman, MT and Idaho Falls, Idaho. There is also a small West Yellowstone Airport.

Please note there is no central air conditioning, however there is a portable unit in the primary bedroom.

*Roads are maintained but the wind and snow in the fall, winter and Spring can be unpredictable. We HIGHLY recommend an AWD vehicle in the winter and shoulder months.

Note: Some homes in this area may experience a slight discoloration in the water due to naturally high iron content—this is normal for the region. This home is equipped with a water filtration system, including a softener, a sediment filter, a UV light, and a carbon filter. Some guests choose to use bottled water for drinking during their stay in Island Park, which is totally fine and a common preference.

Nice little cabin in the woods. Feels secluded from big towns and a lot of neighbors. It's a little over an hours from Yellowstone entrance. There is a small bit of gravel to get to the house. Check-in was easy. They texted to make sure we had everything we need. Great experience, would definitely stay there again.
