SCAM! Bait and switch - DON'T BOOK
I hadn't received check-in info by the morning of our stay. (I had booked 2 months in advance.) I contacted the host to ask about check-in. She informed me that the apartment was "no longer available". She said the landlord took it back that morning but she had "a similar property only 11 minutes away" in Vauxhall. If you know anything about London, you know that Vauxhall and South Kensington are completely different places. You pay a lot more for South Kensington. 11 minutes by car translates to 48 minutes walking or 40 by tube. We arrived in London in mid-July with a family and nowhere to stay. If I didn't know London, I would have accepted her offer out of desperation, and Vrbo would never have known. I also would have paid a lot more for a Vauxhall location as South Kensington is a premium location. In my case Vrbo did offer assistance and we were able to find a lesser but adequate place in Kensington. I'm very surprised this host wasn't blacklisted. The whole way it played out screams fraud!
