My dad's friend owns a really cool karting circuit in Pageas, a few kilometres from Chalus where I grew up in France.
They are both hunters. I know this is not everyone's cup of tea, but a lot of people from that generation in rural France do like hunting, fishing, fetching mushrooms.
There are woodlands all around the karting circuit. My dad and his friend have built some platforms in the trees, and from mid-October to mid-November they go there every morning to shoot migrating birds. Those ones are some sort of wood pigeons going from Eastern Europe / Russia to North Africa.
I did my own shooting that morning... with my camera! The sunrise was spectacular with some nice pink colours and mist in the valley.

“Ich habe in Frankreich schon viele Gîtes kennengelernt, dieses jedoch hat mich sehr positiv überrascht. Die alte Bausubstanz ist sehr schön erhalten und mit modernem Komfort ergänzt. Ein riesiges Wohnzimmer, ein gut funktionierender Kamin, bequeme Betten, viel Platz, ein Swimmingpool und das schöne Schloss, ein gutes Restaurant und eine gemütliche Kneipe. “One of the most relaxing holidays we have ever had. “We felt very comfortable here. The house has a huge garden with plenty of sun and lots of shade. You could always find a nice spot. It is surrounded by a wonderful, peaceful landscape: fields, forests, and meadows. We didn’t do much because it was simply perfect here. Inside, everything was very nicely and charmingly decorated. There was everything you needed. We were also delighted when we were “visited” by the animals there—sometimes a dog would come by, or a cat, or a herd of cows. The owner……
