“Ranau Backpackers Hostel is in the center of town, and since Ranau is such a small town, food & stores are all within walking distance. It’s also right across from the central market. I stayed in a twin room with private bathroom good for a solo traveler like me. The A/C in the room worked well, as well as WiFi, and overall the room was good, except the bed / mattress was too hard & hence not comfortable; the same goes for the pillow. There’s self-serve breakfast, which consists of coffee,……

“I just stayed for a week conducting research and had a great stay. The owner, Ben, and staff are wonderful people and I consider them friends now. The room & bed was clean and comfortable and solid WiFI was available at the eating area (helpful for those working). The in-room AC unit helps A LOT in the humid climate. The food, particularly dinner, is tasty and a great deal for the quality you get. Unlike places in more populated areas, if you're lucky, you'll see endangered species here like……
