"There was plenty of birds and trails.
The staff was very nice and helpful.
The food was unexpectedly great.
The road getting up to the reserve is a little rocky/bumpy but thats literally the only concern everything else was amazing."

Bellavista Cloud Forest Reserve and Lodge is an amazing place to stay. They have extremely knowledgeable birding and wildlife guides and the people who work there are super nice. The food is great, although the options are limited.
The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. Ours looked out into the cloud forest. Don't expect a luxury experience. This is a fairly remote location that is ideal for nature lovers and particularly birders. I would recommend getting a package if you go that...

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying with David at Tarrassas de Dana. The hotel is only 4 small bungalows. They are simply but elegantly designed and finished. The site if nothing less than spectacular. Gorgeous! Full of flowers, verdant mountains, hummingbirds and butterflies. David was a wonderful host and so very helpful. We had both breakfast and dinner at the hotel served on the private porch of our bungalow. Both were excellent.

Our experience were perfect in some many ways, the employes were very warm and helpful with the reservations for the local attractions, the entertainment living room in the hotel with the games and the karaoke let us enjoy in a safety way, the room was excelent and very confortable, the absence of tv wasnt necessary, I will absolutely return there and recommend them.
My only sugestion is to put a fan inside de room.
Thank you for everything!!

I absolutely loved my night here. My only regret was that I only had 1 night! For sure I would return. Its just outside the city center which is fabulous if you value peace and quiet as I do. I loved the property that included a path to the river, hammocks, a lovely outdoor breakfast area, and a pool that had changing stalls and bathrooms. Even the walk to the river had bathrooms nearby and campsites which I would definitely make use of given the opportunity!

I booked this lodge in November and arrived in march. Expedia did not inform them of my arrival (pre-payed ) All the staff do not speak English .I had to call my previous hotel for a translator .I showed them my conformation . They were
booked out ,but made a room available to me for 3 lovely days. This is a very isolated area , a national park .Tulipe
is a small town of maybe 50 people on a cobble road . What a peaceful place. they have historical dig sites all over the hills. a small museum...

The hotel resides in one of the most beautiful places I have ever experienced. The grounds are immaculately maintained, tge architecture is gorgeous, the spaces uncrowded and relaxed. Places like this only exist in fairy tales. The staff is friendly and efficient, the rooms large, well-appointed, and comfortable. The on-site restaurant is very good too. I hope to spend another vacation there.

This was an amazing Sanctuary located in the mountains above the city of Quito. It was very easy to get there. We had the room called the cathedral which was amazing with a natural in-ground hot tub the authenticity of the rooms and the decor made you feel as though you are having the best Ecuadorian experience ever. They take care of you like kings and queens. The views are incredible of the mountains from the comfort of your bed and Lamas and peacocks at your windows and doors so peaceful so...

I’ve traveled all over the world, five countries in the last 12 months. I have to say that this hotel had the best customer service I’ve ever seen. I was treated like a king as a regular traveler. I never leave reviews but I want the next traveler to Quito to find this gem.

The best area to stay in Tandayapa is directly within the Tandayapa Valley itself, especially for those seeking an immersive nature experience.
This region is characterized by lush cloud forest and is primarily known for its exceptional birdwatching opportunities. Accommodations here are typically eco-lodges or reserves located directly within the forest, offering immediate access to trails and observation decks. The focus is on nature and tranquility, making it ideal for those who want to disconnect and observe wildlife.
Birdwatching enthusiasts will find this area unparalleled. Lodges often feature feeders and guided tours, allowing guests to easily spot a wide variety of species, including hummingbirds, toucans, and tanagers, right from their balconies or common areas.
When is the best time to go to Tandayapa?
The best time to visit Tandayapa is during the drier months, which generally span from June to September. This period offers the most comfortable conditions for exploring the cloud forest.
During these months, you'll experience less rainfall, which makes activities like birdwatching and hiking more enjoyable and accessible. The trails are typically less muddy, and the visibility for spotting wildlife is often better. While it's a cloud forest, meaning some mist and light rain can occur year-round, the drier season provides longer stretches of clear weather.
For nature enthusiasts and birdwatchers, this timing is particularly beneficial.
