“The Protea Hotel will be my choice for stay in Benin moving forward. The showers were always hot & air conditioner, always cold. The staff was extremely accommodating and prepared to help or offer guidance. The beds could be softer but that’s the standard in the area. I always felt secure about my belongings during my stay. The cleaner was an absolute pleasure every morning, offering new sheets & towels at request. Overall a great stay. Be sure to try the grilled catfish & the ice cold Heineken……

“Close proximity to lots of things. Good food, supervisor (Ohio) was super helpful with lots of needs especially when they didn't have my reservation on their system. I had to go through a lot of hassle trying to clear that. I spent 3 weeks in this hotel, and breakfast was included in my booking but they refused to give me breakfast for one week. Breakfast started coming after I explained that I would file a claim when I get back to the US. Hotel was super noisy from the bar music and the other……

“It wasn’t what I saw on their website I saw when I got there. The first room I was given the bathroom roof was full With mold, the air conditioner was full of dust, the bedding was stained and the manager was kind enough to get me another room. It was a little bit better than the first one but wasn’t what I was expecting I had to check out the next day to look for something nicer. The waitress lacks professionalism.”

“The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. There were occasional power outages but there is a generator on the premises to fill in, and the internet service was good as well. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the Chinese food in the restaurant is excellent. I would definitely stay here again if I visit Benin City.”
