Gorgeous setting, incredible sunsets, friendly staff. We loved looking out from our balcony or the infinity pools onto the bioreserve jungle below. We had an upper floor room (#9) right next to a tree that regularly had birds and howler monkeys coming through. Very peaceful. Spacious room. The food and drinks are at US resort-level prices, and there are no other places to eat within a 15-minute walk, so plan accordingly. The shuttle into town works well for daytime beach visits or lunch out, but the last shuttle back is at about 4:30 so if you stay in town for dinner you need to take a tuck-tuk back (uber not available here).

We loved our stay at Lagarta Lodge! Yes, the road uphill i dusty and bumpy. But well worth it. One of the best eco-lodges we have ever stayed at. ...The scenic location overlooking the confluence of Rio Nosara and the ocean fosters an impressive array of birds, monkeys, coati and other wildlife. ... Just as impressive is the cleanliness of the entire grounds, featuring 3 lovely pools, a jacuzzi, a yoga/health spa and a fine restaurant ... The staff is awesome! Helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. They arrange shuttle service to local beach towns as well. During our week there, some became our friends! ... One caution - we felt the bedding could be improved -- firmer mattress, softer pillows. Otherwise, everything was Pura Vida!

First, we arrived by car and the road leading to Lagarta Lodge was rough to navigate, but once we arrived we were thrilled. Daniel greeted us in the lobby with a special drink and a hot moist cloth to was our hands. Our room had a panoramic view of the ocean and sunset. Our balcony was furnished with chairs, a table and a hammock. There were 3 infinity pools (one with a bar and one was a hot tub). Dining on site while watching the sunset was nothing short of remarkable. There was a complimentary shuttle that could take you in and out of Nosara. It takes 15 minutes to walk to the beach and the easy walk along the extended, sandy beach was very enjoyable. Staff were very prompt and attentive.

View from room, restaurant, lounge, and pools were consistently beautiful. Room was minimalist in style but very clean (few ants and other small bugs but to be expected in this area) and the hammock on patio was a nice touch. Breakfast and dinner were excellent! Wildlife was abundant (monkeys, coatimundi, red squirrels, and iguanas). Beaches were a bit of a walk to get to and, honestly, not that great.

What a great spot! The views and pool as well as our beautiful room with a large patio were all exceptional! We had a great stay. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Although there is a shuttle to town, the walk to the beach is worth doing. It is a bit far but kind of part of the adventure of being in the jungle. Highly recommend!

Built on the side of a mountain in the jungle this property is incredibly unique. You definitely need an SUV to get there ' bad roads make for good people' but it is so worth it. Stunning views, delicious food, unmatched friendly service and all the amenities you could ask for. My only caution is that it is NOT for anyone with mobility issues as all the pathways have significant slopes and there are lots of stairs. The lush tropical jungle situated on a nature reserve made for jaw dropping beauty. Lots of great restaurants and beaches within walking distance and they offer a shuttle service to help you explore the area. 10/10 jungle experience.
