Betwixtmas Break: Hotels.com Finds Travelers Are Checking-in to Mentally Check-out

Searches for All-Inclusive resorts surge for the week between Christmas and NYE as tired travelers look forward to doing as little as possible

Move over, spring break: Hotels.com finds the week between Christmas and NYE is the biggest of the year for a certain kind of relaxing beach getaway. Tired from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, travelers are ready to unwind and forget what day it is, causing searches for all-inclusive resorts to soar higher than Santa’s sleigh. Interest in all-inclusive properties during the “betwixtmas” period was double that of spring break, and 140% higher compared to the rest of December.

Hotels.com originally spotted an increasing interest in all-inclusive resorts last year, as younger travelers realized the appeal of their low-effort, high-reward offerings from dining to service to amenities.

Melanie Fish, VP of Communications for Hotels.com said: “The week after Christmas is that magical time when email is slow, calories don’t count and it’s time to mentally clock out. According to our research, Gen Zers say their top reason for seeking out an all-inclusive is for ‘minimal stress,’ which is precisely the betwixtmas vibe.”
