Travel searches for host cities jump 245%1 post draw
Colombian, English and Scottish fans crowned most dedicated fans
Team US support surging: Seattle match searches +145%, Los Angeles +120%
Today, Expedia® released its second Fan Travel Outlook, the definitive travel guide for fans attending next summer’s major soccer tournament in North America, from June 11 – July 19, 2026.
The report based on Expedia traveler data reveals global interest in traveling to matches in the US, Canada and Mexico next summer is up 245%1 post draw, with Boston leaping to the top of the ranking of trending soccer cities.
“The moment team draws were made, fans swarmed the Expedia app to make travel plans, with soccer-crazed nations like England leading the front line,” said Melanie Fish, head of Expedia Group brands public relations. “Expedia’s Fan Travel Outlook is here with the travel assist to help fans come for soccer, stay for more: road-trip between host cities, fly into alternative airports like Las Vegas, don’t forget vacation rentals for extra space and use Expedia’s price tracking tool to score the amazing deals.”
Top Trending Soccer Cities
With group stage match ups now confirmed, Expedia reveals the latest insights on the surging travel demand, as fans plan their North American trips:
- Boston tops both the most popular and trending rankings, with more searches than any other host city. Searches are up 1000%1, driven by soccer-mad English and Scottish fans – making up 65%2 of all Boston searches.
- Dallas is trending up 900%1. The Texan city will host soccer powerhouses England and Argentina, yet searches are being driven by Japanese fans, who will have two games in Dallas – they account for almost a third of travel searches.
- New York ranks as the second most popular city, proving an accessible hub for traveling international fans. Lodging searches are up 120%1, with global flight searches up 165%3.
- Miami ranks third in the most popular host city list (+260%1), with Brazil vs Scotland drawing the biggest initial interest. Searches by the Scots account for almost half2 of searches made for Miami post-draw.
- San Francisco trails both the rankings, with only a 10%1 increase in interest, despite hosting five group stage matches. This is likely due to teams with smaller fan bases playing in the Bay, who need to travel further to watch their teams.

Hardcore Fans Heading to North America
There are 48 nations taking part in next summer’s major soccer event, and Colombia fans are proving the most dedicated of them all.
- Colombian fans take top spot in the most dedicated fan ranking, with travel searches up 305%4 – more than any other nation. Los Cafeteros will head to Mexico City, Guadalajara and Miami, with their match-up with Portugal in Miami proving the biggest driver of searches.

- Scotland’s passionate fans will head to Boston and Miami, with searches for their opening game in Boston ten times the volume of England fans’ searches for their matchup in the same city.

Expedia’s Top Travel Tips for Fans
- Consider multi-city flight tickets: If following a team to multiple cities — sometimes flying into one city and returning out of another can prove cheaper than buy separate one-ways. Check out the multi-city flights booking function on Expedia.
- Fly into an alternative airport: Fans will be looking for flights and accommodation in the cities their teams will play. To make your budget stretch further, consider flying into a city that is a couple of hours away, and travel to the game from there. For example, fly into Burbank or San Diego instead of Los Angeles.
- Bundle6 and save more on packages: Flights, hotels, car hire and activities – all in one place. Book them together on Expedia to save hundreds on average. Bonus: your full itinerary is stored in one place.
- Road Trip Pairings: If taking in multiple games, consider renting a car to drive between the host cities, some are closer than you think. New York to Philadelphia is less than two hours, Houston to Dallas is less than four hours. Car rental is available on Expedia from $357 per day, including taxes and fees.
- 90-Minute Vacation Rentals: Along with hotels, also consider vacation rentals. There may be better availability in suburbs or rural areas outside of cities.
- Studio from $145 per night8 in Carlisle MA, 45 minutes from Boston
- 1-bedroom apartment at The Monticello Guest House from $150 per night8 in Knox Street District, 15 minutes from Downtown
- 3-bedroom private estate home from $427 per night8 in Langley Township, BC, 1 hour 30 minutes from the stadium
- Turn on Price Alerts: Let the deals come to you. Use Price Tracking9 in the Expedia app to track fares and pounce when prices drop.
- Come for soccer, stay for experiences: Make the most of your visit to North America and check out local experiences, such as food tastings in Toronto, museums in Mexico City and historical excursions in Boston. All bookable on Expedia.
