What you can expect
Get comfortable with scuba gear during an introductory pool lesson, then venture out into the balmy Caribbean waters off the Barbadian coast to experience an open-water dive in the tropical sea.
An expert instructor guides you through the technical basics of scuba diving as you get used to the breathing apparatus, tank, and knowledge needed to immerse yourself underwater in the comfort and safety of a swimming pool.
Once you’re comfortable and well-acquainted with your gear, head out by boat to a nearby reef to sink up to 40 feet (12 m) down into the tranquil and serene realm beneath the waves. During your first open-water dive, follow your instructor as you watch for schools of colorful fish and impressive pelagic species such as sea turtles or barracudas, check out delicate coral formations, and marvel at massive barrel sponges on the ocean floor.
The permit you receive at the end of the class can be used as a credit toward obtaining full PADI certification.
