What you can expect
Let out your adventurous side for a day of exploring the beauty of Rottnest Island at its best. With a ferry ride from the coast of Western Australia and the use of a bicycle to explore at your leisure, you can see the unique wildlife and spectacular views on this remarkable piece of nature.
A high-speed ferry awaits you at Hillarys Boat Harbour, where you pick up your bike and set out for the 12-mile (19-km) cruise across the sea. The vessel carries you in air-conditioned comfort over the stunning coral reefs that line the coast, depositing you on the pristine beaches of a spectacular natural reserve.
Once you've stepped ashore, set off at your own pace to explore every corner of the island. Only 7 miles (11 km) long and 3 miles (4.5 km) across at its widest point, Rottnest is the perfect size for a day's worth of cycling. Ride up to the Wadjemup Lighthouse, past the natural salt lakes, or to the rugged West End to see the splendor of its charming country setting before your ferry ride back to the Australian coast.
