Description

Hungary's vast Puszta (flatland) is a World Heritage Site framed by the ancient Danube and Tisza rivers. Explore Kecskemét, the gateway to the plains, and watch an arresting horse parade at a country ranch. Relish a hearty feast and gipsy music in a local csárda—a traditional Hungarian tavern.

Swap Budapest's urban density for the open landscape of the Great Plains, where a more laid-back lifestyle prevails. Discover the town of Kecskemét, learning about its history as a city center to the Southern Great Plain, and walking its streets and Main Square to appreciate the colorful baroque and art nouveau architecture.

Journey to a ranch tucked into a quiet corner of the countryside, enjoying far-reaching views of grasslands over 20,000 square miles (50,000 sq. km). Upon arrival, be greeted by pálinka, a local fruit brandy, and pogácsa, a savory scone. Relax among meticulously restored farm houses and authentic draw wells under old walnut trees.

Enjoy a carriage ride on the property, and (served with winter departures November - March, optional in April - October) watch spirited horsemen riding wild studs and presenting their acrobatic skills on horseback—a truly unforgettable and uniquely Hungarian spectacle. Afterwards, sit down in a local tavern, feasting on flavorsome Hungarian dishes while a live orchestra plays gipsy songs for your enjoyment.

The tour guide was not very engaging. The food was below average--not nearly as good as what we had eaten in other places For example the golash soup had grisly meat scraps which we couldn't eat and had to spit out and leave on the side of the plate. Everywhere else our goulash soup had nice chuncks of beef. The guide talked more to the driver than to us. Also when we were dropped off in the morning we didn't know where the office was. It took one hour for them to find us and all that time we were basically standing across the street on the corner The horse show, wagon ride and horse ride were good Would I book this again? No.
