Noboribetsu City is the remains of a volcanic crater nearLake Toya, formed about 10,000 years ago, there is a place about 450 meters in diameter that is still spewing white smoke, with no grass growing and a strong smell of sulfur.NoboribetsuHell Valley gets its name because it looks like being in hell. It is the remains of an explosive crater formed when Mount Hiyori erupted. A sulfur spring of about 130 degrees erupts from the bottom of the pond. It is the source of hot spring water for major hot spring hotels in Noboribetsu. There is an observation deck here, where you can see the steaming lake in front of you. You can also walk to the lake to experience it up close. Walking around the lake, in addition to smelling the smell of sulfur, you can also see the source of the hot springs that are smoking and foaming at any time. The yellow balls of sulfur floating on the lake are particularly conspicuous

The average water depth is 117.0 meters. The water storage capacity is 8.19 cubic kilometers. The lake is 84 meters above sea level. The northernmost limit of Japan's ice-free lake. Lake Toya Silo Observation Deck is the best place to take panoramic shots of Lake Toya. From here you can see all the natural landscapes around Lake Toya such as Lake Island, Mount Yotei, Showa Shinzan, and Mount Usu.
Showa Shinzan Bear Ranch

The bear ranch located near the entrance of the Showa Shinzan Ropeway is home to more than 100 purebred Hokkaido brown bears. Brown bears are the largest wild mammals in Hokkaido. You can feed brown bears in the bear ranch. When they see the food, the brown bears stand up and wave to tourists in a cute manner. They are naive and very cute.
