Description

Get to know the beauty of Panama City in a tour that takes you to its remarkable places and the Panama Canal. After being picked up at your hotel, you will ride in comfort through the sites of the modern capital city.

First, Ride through the enchanted Balboa area to admire the Panama Canal Administration Building on a hill, and then head to the Miraflores Locks for the chance to see huge shipping vessels transiting through the locks of the Panama Canal.

Continue to the Amador Causeway, where you can find incredible views of the city—not to mention a Duty Free store.

Afterwards, visit the Colonial City, home to amazing Spanish architecture. Head to Plaza Francia, Las Bovedas, San Jose Church with its wonderful gold altar, the Flat Arch, and Cathedral Church, and see where French workers led by Ferdinand de Lesseps began the Panama Canal. You can still notice the French style of architecture in the surrounding homes.

After lunch, visit the ruins of Old Panama City, destroyed by the pirate Henry Morgan in 1671.

Convenient transportation brings you back to your hotel in the afternoon.

Raymondo, the guide, was great, however the overall experience was lacking. They arrived at the hotel 20 makes mutes early. Thankfully my friend was in the lobby waiting for a cab, heard them calling me and let me know. We proceeded to the next pick up and had to wait 15 minutes for the people to eat breakfast. By the time we picked up group number 3 we made it to the canal in time to see the last ship of the morning leaving the locks. Hardly the entire experience. On to old town, then a 15 minute drive to the lunch spot, only to drive all the way back past our original location to see the colonial city ruins, or at least drive past because they were closed on Mondays. I was back at my hotel before 3:00. The 8.5 hr tour was a disorganized 7 hours. The frustration was compounded by half the group insisting on the tour being in Spanish. That group was an “experience” which wasn’t the tour companies fault, but an English tour should be just that.
