Alba is a district of the stylish coastal resort of Riccione, on Italy’s stunning Adriatic Riviera. Visiting Alba will include spending time on a long, sandy shoreline lapped at by inviting waters and exploring lively commercial avenues. Top up your tan, dabble in watersports, shop for Italian fashion and sample the nightlife.
Much of the beach is divided into areas called bagni (beach clubs) such as Playa del Sol Riccione and Mojito Beach Riccione. Pay the admission fee and benefit from beach umbrellas, loungers, changing facilities, bars and waiter service. Crowds gather late in the afternoon for sundown aperitifs and cocktails before moving onto nearby nightclubs. If your idea of beach fun is just the sand and sea then head to the public area in front of Piazzale Azzarita.
As well as swimming in the crystalline Adriatic, try various watersports such as Jet Skiing, sailing, surfing and windsurfing. Enjoy family-friendly fun on the waterslides of Beach Village Riccione. Walk the length of the beach to Riccione Port, where luxury yachts moor up alongside fishing boats. The sea-facing restaurants here serve delicious plates of fresh pasta and seafood.
A variety of drinking, dining and shopping options occupy pale-hued buildings on Viale Dante. Pause for reflection at the Church of Gesù Redentore, notable for its cupola and statue of Christ the Redeemer. Children can stay entertained at the playground located next to the church.
Viale Dante extends through the historic center of Riccione. Find out about local events at Palazzo del Turismo, on Piazzale Ceccarini. Nearby is Villa Mussolini, an exhibition space at the one-time summer residence of dictator Benito Mussolini. At the Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art Villa Franceschi, browse work by Alberto Burri and Vigilio Guidi, among others.
Alba sits to the north of central Riccione and is less than a 10-minute drive from Rimini’s Federico Fellini International Airport. Consider traveling by bike and take advantage of Riccione’s specialist hotels that cater to cyclists.
