See all #### TripAdvisor ReviewsQupqugiaq Inn is a remarkable, beautiful, and affordable hotel. The hotel has twenty five rooms with private or shared baths, and prices to fit all budgets. Each room has high speed internet access, phones with voice mail, and satellite television with HBO. Our lovely common area has a free cyber bar, a full kitchen, an Alaska travel resource area, and a large dining and conversation area. Downstairs is a cafe with authentic Turkish food. Special activities include barbeques every night from 6 PM - 11 PM, breakfast available at a nominal charge that includes personally flaked oatmeal, and our own 24 hour bread milled in our kitchen, and movies and documentaries in our mini theater. We are also creating a Conscious Alaskan business network, to help connect travelers with meaningful travel opportunities. Much more than just an affordable hotel, our guests enjoy a truly special experience with interiors that boast organic, unusual architecture, flowing, asymetric curves handmade tiles and steamed oak, handcrafted and antique furniture. Striking additional features include a remarkable tree of understanding and action, with tools for exploring fundamental questions about oneself and society, counters made from stone from the gold mine at Hatchers pass, Lebanese mosaics on the floors, and educational mini libraries in each room. We use natural cleaning products and recycle. Located in midtown Anchorage, Qupqugiaq is close to the main public library, movie theaters, laundromats, restaurants and shops. We are just 10 minutes to the airport or downtown, and on the bus route. There is no place quite like Qupqugiaq Inn. We hope that the artistry of the building expresses a spirit of care that you will enjoy during your stay with us. Qupqugiaq mixes modern amenities with rustic Alaskan charm, and a strong vision for a thoughtful lodging experience.

“Potpourri of People”
I enjoyed my stay at Qupqugiaq Inn. The mix of travelers from all over the world made for great conversation and better company. The innkeeper was more than helpful with both my stay and in travel suggestions. If you are looking for a unique inn with a mix of organic meets modern, look no further. Oh, try the pumpkin seed granola!
“Inexpensive.”
I arrived in Anchorage after midnight and needed an inexpensive place to stay until I was picked up later in the morning. The room was ideal for what I needed.
“frequently stay here when in anchorage”
After you have stayed in a few of Anchorages many flea bag hotels, you start to appreciate the Qupqugiaq Inn. Local AK touches, cleanliness, big kitchen, and price make it my go to choice in Anchorage. That it's not right downtown, is its only real drawback.
“Economical and Convenient”
Inn keeper in from 10a-2a - good for a late flight in but not the early bird flights in. People arriving at all hours, not that it matters suns up during summertime almost 24/7. So the noise level of up and down stairs with suitcases and hiking boots a bit disturbing. Smoking signs were posted but not followed, especially by the inn keeper employees. Inn guest in 14 stated smoke seeped through the windows into the room. Commons area very nice, two computers connected to the internet allows for me to do daily email checks, weather check or mapquesting the day out. Never a long wait. Breakfast in the form of hot or cold cereal, tea and coffee were provided. A refrigerator for personal food was available. Some guest cooked full meals for themselves. I heard no complaints of food missing. We did not receive turn down service during our stay, if you needed fresh towels after a couple of days you needed to request them. The shared bathroom was cleaned several times a day and fellow inn guest were very clean. Although some very European walking the hall to the shower in just a towel. LOL We stayed twice in a two week period. The bed was hard in 16, difficult the first couple of nights. The 2nd week the bed in 4 was nice. TV service was minimal, some nights no channels, then other nights it was anywhere between 1-8 channels available, satellite service dysfunction? We really didn't care too much though stayed out most of the day.
“Just night stay”
We checked in at 1:30 am and left at around 9:30am, needed some place just for the night. So it fit the bill perfectly.
“newly remodeled”
newly remodeled but still working out the kinks it seemed. We had to do our own towels and garbage? The room wasn't clean in the week we were there but I do think they were short staffed. They were very friendly and added a continental breakfast while we were there.
“Not a good choice”
A tiny room with an old uncomfortable bed was all we got. Nothing else was provided. There was no glass in room, not even paper cups. There was no milk for breakfast and the coffee maker was out of order. No one could been found to fix up in the morning.
“get what you pay for”
ok for one night/price
“Very noisy”
If you stay in a front room, you will hear lots of street noise. The front door is about 30' from a very busy street. Very small room. No cooling except for a noisy fan. No ice available. The window lacked a screen. The pedestal sink was in the room with no shelf to place needed items. The bathroom door would not latch closed due to missing hardware. The clerk at the front desk appeared indifferent at best. The unattended continental breakfast consisted of 1 bowl of cold cerial with no coffee available.
